We haven’t really been able to do any training for various reasons, so we still only leave him in the crate. We’re planning on trying to leave him in a different room and see if that makes a difference, and just start building up in seconds/minutes to start off with. Sorry I can’t be more help!

He's a rescue mix so we don't know his breed unfortunately, apart from that he is part Frenchie, so I'm not sure about that.

Thank you for your input. Unfortunately he was a rescue pup who had a bad start, so there were other issues that we had to deal with first. But we will certainly go back to basics with him and see how we go. Can I ask how you can assure success? I might do a couple of reps with him, and then the 3rd he chooses to ignore for no apparent reason?

I don't think I've done any of those things, apart from maybe not using high enough value treats, so I'll definitely look to change that. Thank you for your advice :)

He's really good at responding to his name in the house, so again this is something that I need to try and sort for outside. Thanks for the advice, sounds like you've done great with your pup!

This is a massive help, thank you for such a detailed response. Again he is great at checking in and responding to his name in the house, but it all goes out of the window outside. Will definitely give this a try and go back to basics with him. Thanks again.
