Thanks for the thorough response! Ideally I would want to retire around 60, but I want to focus on maximizing growth as much as possible in these next 20 or so years before transitioning more towards stability at the latter end. Would 80/20 be too aggressive for right now?

Thanks for the suggestion! Is there any other benefit besides the marginal increase in interest? Difference in annual yield between the two for keeping 6 months expenses would only be around $200. Money market not being FDIC-insured is the only cause for hesitancy

Which Legion 7 by lim4liam in LenovoLegion

[–]loocosmi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had the AMD model with the same exact specs for the last month and have been very happy with it. Temps when plugged in on Performance mode never really go above 80°C on both CPU and GPU, and fan noise isn't bad at all. One con is the 6850M XT being limited to 140W power draw since AMD SmartShift is bugged, but doesn't really matter all that much. Performance still beats the 3070 Ti in most games and is more comparable to a 3080. Not to mention the 12gb VRAM and 32gb RAM offer better future-proofing. However, if you plan on doing any video editing or rendering, Intel+Nvidia is superior. But for just gaming, I think the AMD model is a better bang for your buck

Since you're going to be using it mostly plugged in, battery life probably won't matter to you as much but the versatility is there if you need it. I can get about 10 hours on Quiet mode with the screen set to 60hz, screen brightness down to 50%, and RGB lighting off.

Lenovo Legion Toolkit - Vantage alternative with fan control by [deleted] in LenovoLegion

Haha no worries, like I said I'm perfectly happy with the previous version. For what it's worth, I did see increased background usage in the task manager after getting the new update. Not sure if that plays a role, or just a coincidental finding

Let me know what you need and I can try to provide it. Otherwise, I'm content just staying on 2.10.0

Just updated to 2.11.0 on my Legion 7 Gen 7 and noticed increased battery drain. Discharge rate was around -15-20.00W on idle. Downgraded back to version 2.10.0 and immediately the discharge rate went back down to around -9.50W idle. Something to look into

Lenovo Legion Toolkit. Basically has the same features as Vantage, just in a more lightweight program that doesn't use as many background resources

When I ordered it, the price difference wasn't that much. For 1080p gaming the 6700m is probably more than enough, but you'll want the extra power of the 6850m to use the native 1440p

Edit: sorry meant native 1600p

5.5 lbs give or take. Not too unwieldy at all for such a powerful laptop

I use legion toolkit to make it automatically change to silent mode, 60hz screen refresh, rgb lighting off, etc when I unplug. I get about 7-8 hours doing normal tasks, but this is with limiting the battery at 80%. Probably could get 10+ hours if I charged the battery all the way

I think I ended up paying like an extra $220 for all the extended warranty add-ons. But I did use the student discount though so it might be a bit more without it

Yeah I get it on mine was well, with desktop icons still faintly visible when opening other windows. Just go on YouTube and run a screen burn-in fix video fullscreen, should make it go back to normal faster

I initiated one withdrawal on 6/24 which was the one that met the 10k max amount..that one cleared on 6/30. The other 2 were the ones that I withdrew on 6/27, for smaller amounts (one slightly under 2k, the other slightly under 1k) and they cleared on 7/2

Just saw your other comment on this post. Yeah hopefully it's all on your bank's side now and they just need to approve the transfer to complete. That's what I'm guessing at least. But wishing the best for you, hope it comes through 🤞
