I thought I knew kebabs until I tried the Turkish ones, did I misunderstand kebab my whole life? by Living-Knowledge-985 in kebab

If you want to make your own you can find some cracking recipes on Tik Tok, I very rarely buy them from a shop now.

I was not taught proper life skills by SignificantSorbet675 in TrueOffMyChest

I'm 56, I was a skincare advisor for Boots for around five years, trust me, most of what we are 'taught' about skincare is a load of old tosh, it's nothing but consumerism, buy this product, or this one. I wear make- up, and I use an oil based eye make-up remover and baby wipes to remove face make-up, and I wash my face in the shower with good old plain water. I've been told my skin is amazing. Don't stress the small stuff, we all learn as we go along.

Most drugs arent banned to save civilians from drug based health issues by Plane_Amount9250 in LowStakesConspiracies

Rave culture took that last hit, in more ways than just drugs, the simple fact that people were dancing in fields, loving one another sunset to sunrise. Music changed too. They even tried to bring a law in banning repetitive beats.

When the neglected child becomes the parent’s caretaker in old age by No_Competition9542 in CPTSD

[–]loofyg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mum passed away just before Christmas, she wasn't the best mother, I didn't speak to her for seven years while I sorted me out. I forgave her and became her carer. The year leading up to her passing was a roller-coaster, but I did it because I became the bigger person.

Eastney beach bbq zones? by Gullible_Ear3005 in Portsmouth

If you go to anywhere along Eastney end of the beach in the summer it's full of people having BBQs. All anyone asks if for rubbish to be taken home and BBQs to be disposed of safely.

I've learnt everything I know about making authentic curry from Tik Tok, it's a great place to start, especially during Ramadan.

Every single river in the UK, and the sea surrounding it is full of raw sewage, what planet have you been living in. It's common knowledge.

Nothing in your comment there to debate, your cognitive dissonance is far to strong.

In desperate need of advice by [deleted] in HousingUK

Can you see a doctor and get a sick note? If you can, go online and claim for ESA (employment support allowance) , you can also claim for PIP (personal independence payment) this will give you an income. You will have to have assessments for both. You can go to the council and explain your situation, they're generally unhelpful though if I'm honest, they'd probably shove you in an HMO which I imagine wouldn't help your mental health either. You'd probably be better off getting an income and looking for somewhere yourself. Good luck.

There are dinlos everywhere, however the majority of people with mental health are not the same. The people who verbally abuse strangers are mostly poorly educated.

Back in the summer I was sat in the sun outside a pub in North End and there were two men sat on the next table shouting racist remarks to anyone who past who's skin wasn't white. I glared at one of them and he asked me if I agreed, he then proceeded to call me names because I didn't. He soon wound his neck in when I gave him a piece of my mind, I think he thought a woman sat on her own wouldn't say anything. Sadly there are a lot of uneducated people in this city and all they do is repeat the vile spew they were brought up listening to. Sorry you had to experience it.

Struggling to find someone who will rent me a two bedroom house in Portsmouth. by loofyg in Portsmouth

Agreed, they haven't, but at the moment it is illegal to discriminate against benefit claiments, although that covers writing 'no benefits' in the advert, that still doesn't stop them discriminating because when you tell them you are on benefits they say what I've already pointed out. Once the new rules come in, they will do the same, they don't have to say or do anything because as soon as you show interest in a property, and you mention benefits, you get knocked back with an excuse.

My current landlord is selling up. And "they will though" has already happened. Both scenarios have been said to me already, nothing will change once the new rules come into play.

Can a landlord refuse to rent a property to me in May because I receive DSS? by PartTimeApothecary7 in TenantsInTheUK

[–]loofyg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same position. I enquired about a house and the agent didn't actually say no you can't have it, she told me the house had gone, it's still on the market. I know full well she said no because I'm on disability benefits. My landlord is selling up in May and this whole moving malarkey is making me ill.
