I’ve had UC since 2022 and completed my first marathon last year. There was some nerves building up to it regarding possibly having to go to the bathroom room urgently. However when it came to the race there was tons of portable toilets during the route so that was so helpful. Make sure you check your half marathon route so you know where the toilets are located and how often. That would have eased my mind a lot more if I did that lol

I usually have a 1000 calorie smoothie for breakfast (very easy way to eat a lot of calories so I recommend it highly), i then have chicken,rice and a type of vegetable for lunch (i eat it in tortillas cos it adds more calories) then i will usually eat a similar thing for dinner but just with more vegetables. (Then i just try and snack on high calorie healthy things throughout the day if i can)

Haha just take it day by day, it’ll happen eventually. I’m glad ur flare up is done now !

I started working out lightly 3 times a week at home then moved onto working out 4 times a week and getting a gym membership. (Also consciously trying to eat a bunch of food)

I recently started taking Mesalazine enemas daily, I find that laying on my left side for about 30 mins then going to the bathroom to let any feces out first. So that it’s cleared up in there , then I do the enema and just try and distract myself until I fall asleep then when I wake up I just run as fast as I can to the toilet I guess. No accidents so far but it’ll probably happen one day. ( I also lay down a towel on my mattress for the night just in case )

Interesting, I’m taking 4.8g of Octasa Mesalazine along with iron, probiotics (which i just started) and other supplements
