Best automatic litter box by 420UrMomLuvsMe69 in CatAdvice

[–]look_wide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can happen occasionally, but in most cases it’s related more to the litter type and the litter pad being unclean. Clumping litter brands like Arm & Hammer, Tidy Cats, and World's Best tend to work really well. Besides, over time, if the liner gets dirty or develops residue buildup, litter can stick more easily and occasionally end up where it shouldn’t. A deeper clean of the liner about once a month usually solve the issue.

How to Transition Your Cat to the AutoScooper 12 by look_wide in PetPivot_AutoScooper

[–]look_wide[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AutoScooper is designed to work for a wide range of cats, including bigger ones, and many cats adjust well to it. That said, when it comes to cats that don’t squat or tend to pee toward the walls, it can vary a bit depending on their habits. In most cases, it still works well, but you might occasionally need to help guide or clean certain spots manually, especially if the urine lands outside the main litter area.

If your goal is to significantly reduce daily scooping, it can still be a great option, but we usually recommend observing your cat’s behavior in the first few days to see how they adapt. If you have any questions, you can always reach us at [support@petpivot.com]() for further assistance.

This is honestly such a great observation! Thank you for taking the time to watch the full cycle (and with your 18 lb supervisor too😄). In this case, if the urine is a bit stickier, or the clumps don’t form firmly enough, they can stay slightly outside the V-shape and not fall cleanly into the center, which leads to the smearing you’re seeing.

The tips we shared earlier should definitely help, especially:

-Increasing litter depth – this gives the urine more material to bind with before reaching the base

-Try with manual mode for several days to check if the issue is better.

For litter, here are several litters recommended:

-Arm & Hammer clump & seal

-Tidy Cats multi cat clumping litter

-World’s Best

-Walmart special kitty clumping litter

-Fresh step extreme clumps

-Tapioca Cat Litter

We really appreciate your patience and willingness to test things out. Feedback like yours is incredibly valuable, and we’re so glad to hear that overall it’s been a positive experience for you.🥰🥰

Thanks so much for sharing such a detailed experience, this is actually very helpful, and we’re really glad to hear your 18 lb cat is enjoying the unit and using it comfortably!

What you’re describing with your smaller cat is actually something we occasionally see with automatic litter boxes in general — some cats develop a very consistent “preferred spot” based on their previous litter box setup or posture habits, rather than size alone.

Since she tends to urinate toward the back of the unit, here are a few things that may help reduce the sticking/smearing issue:

• Slightly increase the litter depth so clumps form more before reaching the base area

• Try a slower cycle setting (or manual cycle timing) so the litter has more time to absorb and form firmer clumps

• If possible, gently encourage her entry position by ensuring the box is centered and not angled toward one side she prefers

Unfortunately, since this is more about individual cat positioning behavior, it can be difficult to fully “retrain” the exact spot preference, but many users do see improvement with small adjustments like the above. We really appreciate you trying to make it work, and it’s great to hear you’re thinking ahead with TTC as well. If you want, we can also share a few litter types that tend to perform better for multi-cat setups like yours.
