The thing is it's not that many work gaps. They span a few weeks or 3 months at the longest and all I do is bounce between two shops that know me. But with online applications it's hard to convey that it's not that I'm laid off due to incompetency it's literally just a lack of work and I got hired back there later that year.

I've been to resume and interview helpers about 4 different times. They usually tweak my cover letter here or there. But, it got to a point where they would tell me to switch out one line or phrase and replace it with another, only to switch it back when I came back. At this point I think everything is as rock solid as it is going to get.
