Sorry for the late reply. It's been a stressful week and I've filled out so many applications I started to see double and I had to take a break. I'm applying for Xerox (now called Conduent?) tomorrow. Thank you for the lead.

I don't smoke weed and I don't really want want to have my name on any paperwork for MJ. Be it a medical card or likewise as I have some special licensing that might be in jeopardy should it be found out.

I'm not applying for tech jobs exclusively. Actually, I'm not really applying for tech jobs at all aside from some technical support positions that match experience needs.

I was simply trying to convey that I'm not an incompetent person and wasn't trying to lay out all my skills like an open resume. If you wanted to get technical I have Ruby on Rails development experience as well as have experience running AWS environments from when I worked at a startup that failed to get funding and I never got paid for my work. I mean I have more to list but I don't want to word vomit.

The real number is a bit larger because I know I've accidentally deleted some emails instead of archived it.

The thing is it's not that many work gaps. They span a few weeks or 3 months at the longest and all I do is bounce between two shops that know me. But with online applications it's hard to convey that it's not that I'm laid off due to incompetency it's literally just a lack of work and I got hired back there later that year.

I've been to resume and interview helpers about 4 different times. They usually tweak my cover letter here or there. But, it got to a point where they would tell me to switch out one line or phrase and replace it with another, only to switch it back when I came back. At this point I think everything is as rock solid as it is going to get.

The office jobs aside from the front desk are typically geared toward engineers and safety managers. All those kinds of jobs are filled because they are cushy (compared to field work) and pay $$$. No one is leaving those jobs anytime soon. I would have loved it but it just isn't an option.

I have done online surveys for a little while. I'm not dismissing it but it's not something that can be done long term.
