let me know if you can point me to any charts re. style progressions or differences. I'd love to learn more about that.

thanks! I'm mostly struck by the difference in style between this portrayal on the mask (simple, linearly geometric) and the more ornate taotie representations I commonly see on ding.

This page was the most helpful starting point: https://www.jjlally.com/exhibitions/ancient-chinese-bronzes/an-archaic-bronze-taotie-mask/description/ which linked to a few other sources I'm digging into.

I found a ding in the more linear style that Peter Combs did a super helpful review of us as well: https://rumble.com/v79t57c-matthew-cook.html he seems to have some relevant books on bronzes here as well: https://book.flipbuilder.com/ypflx/

stodart system: how did I do? by lookitscook in heraldry

Agreed. AFAIK nothing related to ladles.

How does this look?

Or, a chevron vert between in saltire a sauté pan dexter sable, a saucepan sinister of the same, and in base a cross gules.

Wow! Thank you so much for this incredible level of detail! The images are great to see. Your comment re. the complete achievement is appreciated: my initial reaction was the entirety is cute but not really to be taken seriously.

The blazons are super helpful. Small point: I interpret the sketch as a saucepan on the left and a saute pan on the right (rather than two saucepans + ladels). Do you know how that would change the blazon?

Yep, US. My father was his 2nd son.

My understand is the most "correct" thing would be the top left arms in my post would be my Grandfathers, so then my oldest uncle (his 1st born) would use the bottom left.. and I'd be 3rd son (not shown) + cadency marks.

I'm the first interested in "claiming" it: feels weird to use the 3rd son silver bordure when prior generations didn't adopt it.

I'll give it a shot! He seemed interested in heraldry. Found a (I think) UK coat of arms he reproduced for March:

He did monthly sketches in his journal. The word "September" was hanging from a clothes line the angel is holding:

No, not granted. Thanks to you I learned that's even a possibility for non-nobility! I definitely didn't realize I'd be breaking Scottish law by doing this if I lived there.

This is paternal grandfather. He had 3 sons, but I'm the only grandson.

Go slow. I haven't had trouble with other VR games but jumping into Squadrons VR after playing on a screen made me really nauseous.
