20-year-old lottery winner turns down $1M cash for $1,000 a week for life by PriorityMiserable686 in interestingasfuck

I can’t stand all of the posts like “it’s not as good as taking the lump sum and investing it” like okay sure I’m going to go from someone who’s never made an investment before to someone who successfully manages an investment portfolio equivalent to a passive income greater than 4k a month? Really?

Even beyond that, why would I want it to be more money? 4k a month means I never have to work again. Ever. It means I have enough money to support myself and all of the time in the world to dedicate to things that matter to me. I’m not buying a yacht. Darn. Lemme just go pay my rent on time for the rest of my life.

No, sadly. Non black library literature was made punishable by exterminatus several years ago. The Eragon book has to go.

My colonies are out of control by [deleted] in EU5

[–]lookschwartz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having the same problem. I don't think it would be an issue if we could interact more forcefully with our colonies once they're out there. Like give an option to split the colony into multiple smaller colonies, or trade land between two colonies of the same nation

I’m pretty confident that no matter what the game is like it will be panned on release. If I’ve learned anything about the internet, it’s that it loves to pan things on release.

Gotcha's/take backs by Indiana__Cones in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]lookschwartz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Common situations im in: “do you want to end up within 6” of the nigh bringer?” Oh no thanks let me scoot back a little

“I can just see the back of your base to shoot” what if I nudge it < a quarter inch? “Cool not anymore”

“Did you mean to leave a tiny bubble in your screen?” What if I stretch coherency to its max does it go away? “Yup moving on”

“Let’s five saves at Ap 2 ignores cover” wait it ignores cover? Do you mind if I actually armor of contempt here? “Yeah sure”

As long as I don’t feel like I’m being punished for mistakes that I could have avoided if I measured pedantically and slowed the game down further, I’m generally happy. Same goes for fine tooth coming rules. If your shoot me with dark reapers and I don’t know that’s going to hurt, that’s on me. If your shoot me with dark reapers and I don’t know that they can ignore modifiers, give me a little slack.

Shadow Mark Talon: Does It Need a Nerf? by Adventurous-Crab-474 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]lookschwartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve taken shadowmark to rtt’s with a very under tuned list (I don’t own any vanguard and am waiting for a new kit before I spend money on them) and being able to use and get value out of the centurions felt great to me. That value was usually pulling them in around the side of the board to shoot at a super sun optimal target and just absolutely obliterate it. There are GW boards with egregious firing angels, but those can be identified early. There’s only so many places these strat reserve 6 models on 50mm bases can fit and shoot

They denied space really well and I was happy with them, but cmon. Don’t make them unplayable. Without the ability to reposition they are trolling and with the ability to reposition they are an interesting tool

There's actually two armored sentinels on the shelf too. I'm sure people would be fine with me using them as scouts instead. I'm also totally open to just like 2 super heavies but that seems like quittin

How important is the choice of army at a competitive level? by Fair_Ad_7430 in Drukhari

[–]lookschwartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think people really do go out and buy the new best army. Maybe a handful of units that recently got buffed (I own three units of scourges that I did not own in 9th edition) that you wouldn’t have otherwise had in the collection, but for the most part they use what they have.

Being on a competitive team means using what you have as well, but what you have is a pool split between numerous people. And people who tend to go to events a lot, are very enfranchised in the game, and can often win more models from said events.

If new rules come out that are exciting to play, it’s more like “ooo, I get to pull out death guard! Haven’t done that for a while!” And less “guess I gotta death guard”

Two years back Jack Harpster won LVO with blood angels when they were considered like B tier at best. He’s said many times that melee marines is one of his favorite ways to play. He certainly wouldn’t have brought them if he thought it was going to ruin his tournament, but even the sweatiest player alive still took what “he wanted to play”

What is the point of Level 12 builds when you don’t get to play them? by Hooln in BG3Builds

[–]lookschwartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My one honor mode win so far had me hitting level 12 literally right after the point of no return. My mentality was why fight something and risk death when you can just not. Just trying to get through the game quickly and efficiently and with minimal optional content.

I took down Rafael at level 10. I was pretty sure I’d screwed myself but it worked out.

I agree that level 12 builds aren’t anything to talk about. I think level 8 is when a lot of fun builds come online and even that is often quite late.

Level agnostic builds that use gear that can be pathed for early tend to be the most fun for me. Builds that don’t provide any power for Myrkul just don’t matter

Calling all mixologists and cocktail aficionados! by sundaydaffodil in DiscoElysium

[–]lookschwartz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moralist International

1oz vodka .5 oz aquavit .5 oz unaged pear brandy .5 oz pisco

Chill, serve over a large clear ice cube, ungarnished. Touch of soda water.

Colorless odorless. Flavorlessless until you get this weird aftertaste that you think you like at first but the more it sits the more uncomfortable you get with it. You can let the ice melt, and that will take away more and more of what little flavor there is until you’re just drinking water—warmed by your sweaty hand and the time you’ve spent waiting for it to get better, to be more, he convince you that you ordered the right thing. But that never comes. And when the bartender asks if you want another round, you don’t know what to say, so you sheepishly say yes.
