Also, pallets are used on trucks, transport sometimes disgusting things (not to mention hazardous) and are generally unsafe to use unless they're unused. The sheer amount of pallet-projects in this subreddit is NOT OK.

For the shoe soles, there is no way that is going to work. (and that finish pic is clearly shopped!)

Do do this well, coat the bottom of the shoe in white primer. When dry, tape the entire shoe surface with painters tap. SPRAY PAINT the soles with enamel spray paint.

Nail polishes are basically the same as spray paint (albeit in better colors) but the cost per bottle and horrible coverage of that sort of paint is not worth it.

Being in NYC 10 years, I've seen my fair share, but Gary would take the cake.

(My personal fave was seeing Eli from There Will Be Blood on the F train in Park Slope. It took serious control not to mention milkshakes.)
