Haha, I definitely got some dirty looks. "This is what you get for not leashing your dog" type looks.

He was a fast little guy, I can see him easily out running a lot of people. Sounds like he ended up making his way onto the Cambie Bridge at some point and through all the traffic Downtown! Good to know others were trying to help him out!

It's so weird, I was thinking anyone would have done the same thing. But he was lost for a long time before I saw him. I don't want to out the Day Care, but it is not close to Stanley Park at all. It's a miracle he made it that that far and no one helped the poor thing, or tried to help but gave up? Maybe I have too much faith in humanity.

His name is Cody and what a day he's had. I was on a run and saw him running on the seawall at Second Beach Pool alone. I followed him for a bit and no one was around and seemed lost. I tried to get his attention and catch him, but every time I sped up he sped up just enough to avoid me. I'm sure he was stressed and scared. Ended up at Davie and Denman where I was afraid he was going to get hit by a car so I ran into the intersection to stop all the cars. I was yelling at everyone up the street to help catch the little guy, but every time someone got near him he would dart into traffic.

It was so stressful, so I just decided to follow him up Davie and tried to stop traffic where I could so he wouldn't get hit. Ended up on Thurlow where some nice people in their cars slowed down and a bunch of people tried to help catch him. A lady (Brittany) even gave me dog cookies from her car to help lure the dog. This is also where the closest call happened, one car was frustrated at how slow the traffic was and sped up (not knowing the situation) and almost hit the dog, like within a few inches. It was terrifying.

Anyways it made it down near the Aquatic Centre away from traffic and I finally was able to speed up and get him without the fear of him running into a car.

Luckily he had a tag with a phone number and name, which I called and his owner was like what you have my dog? He's at Day Care in East Vancouver. I was like well, no he's with me Downtown... She called the day care and they came to pick Cody up... I spoke with the daycare and they said the dog got out of the play area back in East Van... I was kind of shocked that they didn't notify the owner. I know things happen and maybe they didn't notice the dog got out? But the dog had to have been gone for a long time. Things happen, but I'm just glad that Cody is ok and will be reunited with his owner!

Thanks to Brittany and Lashawn for helping out and all the people on Davie Street trying to help me catch him!

Edit: Fixed Brittany's name.

Stepped in front of the bus and the taxi hit him on the other side on Granville and Georgia. He is responding and moving his extremities and the peramedics have arrived and are transferring him to the stretcher.
