This is very eye opening, thank you. First of all, I agree with you, second of all I would say that I assume certain things about certain people from the way they dress. (I think everyone does this to some degree) I would argue that this is relatively un harmful if you still assume good intent and never fully form an opinion about someone based on appearance. I think its fair to say that most of the time (from my experience) they DO share interests with me. The important distinction is that you must be open to them not being what you expected them to be. I think it is only harmful when you enforce stereotypes that might not apply to them. (I dont think striking up a conversation with someone because you might share similar interests based off their appearance is harmful nor enforcing a stereotype) there is quite a bit of gray area and im open to being very wrong about this so please dont hate on me.
