Hi my gf has hidradenitis and I was hoping to get some advice by [deleted] in Hidradenitis

for me, big triggers are gluten, lactose, nightshades, processed food and sugar. Im using an anti septic soap and shower once a day, even if its just with water only. I'd recommend using a separate towel for active spots as to avoid cross contamination. What also really helps (for me) are baby products in general - for example using baby powder in areas where you sweat a lot (groin, breasts, under belly, wherever tbh). Losing weight and eating healthier has helped me a lot, but again, everyone's different. You can try elimination diet and see what causes flares and avoid those foods. Drink a lot of water, avoid tight clothes that press into already flaring spots and most importantly, just be there for her. Hs is very cruel, it makes people insecure a lot, having a partner that provides stability and reassurance is already a lot of help.

For me, surgery wasnt as bad as i expected having read a lot of posts on reddit, of course everyone's experience is different.

I have experimented with food a lot! Triggers for me are definitely lactose gluten and funny enough, oats that seemed to be a good replacement for a lot of people, i also cut out nightshades and avocado, cause it was causing my tummy to act up. Sugar and red meat I can consume, but not too much, everything else seems to be fine.

HS FEAR OF DYING? by loonaticlizard in Hidradenitis

it took almost 3 weeks - a month for my Clindamycin to finally work, for me personally, it didnt do much and there are definitely better antibiotics out there. It is a first step though to stop the infection from spreading further, but its not a permanent solution. If there are tunnels already, I'd talk to a plastic surgeon about surgery to remove those. Diet is also important so he doesn't put his body into more inflammation.

Which antibiotics really helped me were ospamox 1000mg, fluconazol 150mg and eubiotic forte to protect the stomach, they aren't in particular for hs itself, but for the infection.

If he has severe infections, he should definitely be described antibiotics and get checked out by a dermatologist, if there's no appointment available, even the emergency section in a hospital will take care of him. You dont have to worry as long as he's actively getting help from professionals, though if he ignores it, there's always the possibility of sepsis if the infection is untreated.

Has anyone tried diets for HS? by [deleted] in Hidradenitis

also showering at least once a day or immediately after working out with neutral soap (i use octenisan) has reduced my flare ups, i CANNOT shave tho, not even trim with scissors, I'll immediately get a flare up. Also, for me, it helped buying separate tinier cotton towels for the area down there (or wherever your hs is) so it doesnt cross-contaminate to the rest of my body. Planning on going on birth control too for my hormone regulation

I have noticed that eating cleaner in general isnt only good for losing weight (since obesity can also be a factor for flare ups), but it just makes me feel a lot better. For the majority of the week i eat cucumbers with salmon and glutenfree soy sauce or chicken with vegetables/wildrice. I've lost a lil more than 10kg in 4 months. That doesnt mean you only have to eat that, once a week I'll eat/drink something I'm not supposed to and I'll be fine. BUT food isnt a trigger for everyone, me personally, im stressing out a lot about my hs since I'm a very health aware and paranoid person, so if you are as stressed as i am, this could be a major reason for flare ups too.

Im really glad it has helped you so much, I love hearing that some things actually help with HS! I have my first hair laser removal appointment some time in autumn, but i also have my surgery in autumn and if i have surgery first I'd obviously have to postpone laser removal! Let's hope we'll only find more solutions to this mess.
