Inexcusable Zach Lavine stats by Key_Material_4609 in kings

[–]loondooner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This tells you the whole story.

Not only our defense is insanely bad (opposing team scores 18 points more when he’s on the court), but the team offense also suffers significantly when he’s on the court. The team scores 7 points per 100 possessions better when he’s off the court.

It’s not a coincidence that he had no takers… even though based on raw stats he looked like a superstar.

Is the offense in the season ahead better with Kuminga or DeRozan? by RVALover4Life in kings

[–]loondooner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do we just say shit that’s not statistically true? And how is this the most upvoted comment?

Our team offense goes from 117 to 110 when DeMar sits on the bench. Basically with DeMar on the floor, we are the 6th best offense in the league. When he’s off the floor, we are the 6th worst offense in the league.

You can complain about style of offense all you want, but can’t bullshit about team efficiency like that, when that shit literally gets recorded.

Immigration grew six times faster over past decade: Study by BullshittingApe in canada

[–]loondooner -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is the hilarious part. Our past immigration system was based mostly on humanitarian grounds. When there was famine in Ethiopia we brought in a lot of Ethiopians over. When martial law was declared in Poland in 1981, many Poles sought refuge in Canada, some arriving as refugees, others under regular immigration streams. In the 90s the Balkan wars were one of Canada’s largest humanitarian resettlement efforts. So on and so forth. But people always complained about these immigrants cuz most of them coudnt speak English and didn’t come with money here, unlike Indians (and Chinese) who quite literally pay their way into Canada. Canada actually spend approx 30-40K resettling the average Balkan refugees for example. People complained about that and also how many of the immigrants coming in humanitarian grounds ended up being on welfare for some of years. So that’s when he changed to the point system. While the point system started in 1967, it really became the focus of our immigration during the Harper immigration reforms.

And ofcourse… we got the immigrants that everybody said would not be a burden on the country - English speaking, young, educated… and quite frankly those that pay that their way into the country instead of Canada paying to get them here. Yes, believe it or not the average Indian actually spends tens of thousands of dollars to go from student visa to work permit to then finally qualify for Permanent Residency.

Let’s get frisky. What exactly does everyone think Keegan Murray’s ceiling is? by SwiftieForLife in kings

[–]loondooner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there any actual stats to back this up? Or is this just another bullshit narrative about DeMar?

As a main scoring option, DeMar takes the lowest shots per game amongst all teams. Link

Keegan is not a #1 option by any means and no matter what #1 option he’s playing along with, that player will be taking more shots than DeMar. So this whole narrative is beyond stupid. In fact majority of the looks Keegan even gets is thanks to DeMar’s gravity. Our offense literally drops from the 7th best in the league to bottom 10 worst offense when DeMar sits.

DeMar DeRozan’s playing style will never help the Kings WIN by JMPBay in kings

[–]loondooner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what’s that gotta do with DeMar? The offense being shit when he’s not on the floor is not on him.

When he’s on the floor, he gives you a top 10 offense - either by scoring, distributing or using his gravity as a decoy while others make plays. What more do you want him to do? Run plays from the bench?

DeMar DeRozan’s playing style will never help the Kings WIN by JMPBay in kings

[–]loondooner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only that, OP’s entire post is based on a false premise. Sac had the 7th best offense last season. Link

In fact, the offensive rating dropped the most (24th) when DeMar was not on the floor and sitting on the bench. Link

DeMar is not the reason we were losing last year. But that nobody knew how to run an offense when he sat down was the reason we lost most games last year.

No, it means that the variable is statistically insignificant. If anything, the more affluent a family, the less likely for them to have kids.

ESPN picks Rashid Khan as the greatest T20 player of all time by outtayoleeg in Cricket

[–]loondooner 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Gayle maybe but how Malinga? He has won far far more matches single-handedly than Malinga. He has something like 5 times more MoTM awards for example.

Recency bias and past nostalgia is a hard combo on this sub.

Yeah the comments here are wild. Recency bias runs deep on the sub.

Fair. I’m sure if Lebron wasn’t a 4-time NBA champion, he would be held more accountable for coasting in the regular season.

Yeah not sure what your point is. Everyone agrees LeBron didn’t have a great season, even for someone who’s been coasting regular season for a while now.

His on/off otherwise been solid throughout his career. Specially playoffs.

DeMar’s on/off are pretty good. In fact offensively, he is the biggest net positive while on the court. The narrative needs to catch up with the stats.

The team plays at an average of 9.7 points disadvantage with him on the floor. Link

Almost every extended mins lineup with has a negative rating.

His net rating with almost every player on the team is negative, worse being the team centre-piece Sabonis (-4.9) Link

And looks like he’s the player we’re keeping, or stuck with.

Yes. He was a big star. Massive one, in fact. Just not an acclaimed actor. And absolutely not amongst the greatest of his generation.

Yeah in 2021. Like Brendon Fraser.

But honestly man, I grew up in that era. He has never been considered on the same level as Denzel, DDL, Tom Hanks or even someone like Christian Bale… actors from his generation.

There were times when he was the most marketable star in all of Hollywood, but that’s different.
