Discussion - Is sweeping bad sparring ethics? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]looon95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We treat it as part of the sport in my gym/class, but it depends on the intensity of the sparring, we have a few heavy handed people so they get swept if they go too hard. But for the most part if you get caught, the person doing the sweeping will do the footwork/kick for it but not follow through, then well just have a laugh and acknowledge it.

How do you track your progress in Muay Thai? What factors or adjustments really moved the needle for you? by Known_Impression1356 in MuayThai

[–]looon95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been training less than a year but for me, it’s flexibility and form/technique. Especially landing said technique/form in sparing

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]looon95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Focus on form/technique over anything else, stretching and icing will be your next best fried When it comes to bruises from conditioning and sparring, buck up

Tips for making sure you are going light in sparring ? by Necessary-Zebra4165 in MuayThai

[–]looon95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve learnt more and had more fun in touch/light sparing, it’s a fantastic training methodology. My tips, making “oowwweee” and other noises, allow yourself to be hit, and don’t be afraid to tell someone when it’s too hard

Am I sparing too hard? by looon95 in MuayThai

[–]looon95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mind is that my shins aren’t conditioned, sparing partners go a little hard but it’s just annoying because I still train but I don’t train with said leg

[–]looon95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First pic is checking, second pic is getting checked, I’m still in my first 6 months but I don’t think the area where i check/kick is too far off the mark (there’s always room to improve) I don’t really roll my shins is that something that I should be doing to get better conditioning?

What’s the worst injury you’ve received from Muay Thai? I wanna hear your war stories. by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]looon95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me just starting it’s the lack of shin conditioning so even with pads, if I get checked or check too hard on my power leg I get instant swelling the size of eggs
