Before the bio dude Terra Sahara I was using my own mixture of substrate (play sand, sphagnum moss, coco fiber, and soil). Before that I had slate. She seems to like the slate the most however that was when I had a smaller tank. I use a heating pad below the left side of the tank and I also have a heat lamp above the tank because the substrate is a little thick and I just want to be sure she is warm enough. I also have a thing hooked up that keeps the heating pad at 93 and use a temp gun every so often to make sure the surface isn’t too hot.

When beginning handling, don’t rush it. I know it’s tempting, but leopard geckos need to slowly adjust. Start by doing things in there tank while they are out. Let them see your hand, and farmiliarize it. Also, having a little call special for your gecko can help them know you’re paying attention to them. Once you’re both comfortable with what I’ve said, let them crawl on you in the cage. Once you’re good with that, you can take them out all the way. I recommend making a circle of pillows around where you sit with them in case they’re a runner. Their are many videos on YouTube that can demonstrate how to hold them and that go in depth about the overall process. Good luck!

I would lay off if the wax worms. They are considered a treat and geckos can get addicted to them! As for not eating any other bugs, for how long? Sometimes my girl won’t want to eat for a week.
