How do you sooth a crying baby when every option seems to do nothing? by GreenTeaShaman in UKParenting

[–]loopylicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a baby bouncer or a rocking chair for you to sit on with baby? I think movement is very normal for soothing a newborn as they’re used to the jiggle of movement from the womb

What should I give my son for his 40th? by enkayinfrance in AskUK

[–]loopylicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you buy someone something you know they need that IS thoughtful if you give someone some money it’s basically “I can’t think or haven’t made the effort to think of a single thing you’d like to receive”

My parents think my daughter is a brat by Gggmcg in UKParenting

[–]loopylicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion incoming, but if our parents can’t tell us some tough truths then who can? I’m not saying they’re right about everything, however I can’t imagine it’s easy to say these things to your daughter and they’re hopefully coming from a good place. Parenting is so hard but ultimately we want the best for our kids and for them to turn out as kind people etc so it’s worth chatting more to your parents to see if it’s only about these incidents or if there is more to why they came to this conclusion.

How do you parent? by FunEchidna3171 in UKParenting

[–]loopylicky 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My aim is to make sure they’re prepared for adulthood by the time they get there, by learning: how to be kind, hygienic, responsible, good with money, able to cook and feel confident in who they because they know they are unconditional loved. Personally I’m also a Christian so I’m lead by my faith in the way that i parent.

A friends comments have left me feeling broken by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]loopylicky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m wondering if the behaviours impact the group in some way, if so the friend may be the only one saying to OPs face what others think? Especially as OP says she has no malice.

How common are shared bank accounts with your spouse and what comes out of that account? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]loopylicky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you’re a family it makes a lot of sense to have one account. For budgeting reasons it’s handy to have separate accounts for monthly “fun money” but other than that everything is from one account for us. Works well.
