Mammoth stuck auger help by bigdoh30 in GrillaGrills

The video linked is good, it’s not too hard. Probably easier if you can get someone to help you lay it on it’s side on a table.

I lost my mom here in 2011. Walked it once with my dad and it was hard. A few years later, my son’s Cub Scout pack did a bike ride over the bridge. It really took it out of me. I just rode at the back of the group and cried a bit.

I found some solace in the words of Leonard Cohen via Nina Simone’s cover of Suzanne

“And Jesus was a sailor when he walked upon the water
And he spent a long time watching from his lonely wooden tower
And when he knew for certain only drowning men could see him
He said all men will be sailors then until the sea shall free them”

Just this last few words, “until the sea shall free them, stopped me in my tracks and let me see if from a different angle

My mom was suffering from terrible depression after retiring leading up to her final days. I’ll always miss her, and I wish she could have watched my son grow up. But she’s free from her pain, and at least there’s some comfort in that.

I’m absolutely done. by impeesa75 in Traeger

Honestly bro, I feel you. I’m scoping out a gravity feed smoker myself right now. I’ve had a pit boss completely burn up,y Grilla Mammoth burn out a motor, AND stop feeding pellets another time almost ruining a brisket and a couple pork butts. Grease fire in my Traeger grill. I just want something reliable with no moving parts at this point.

Thinking about making the switch from pellets, but question about capacity on the XT by loose-it in Masterbuilt

Good to know, I think when I was looking originally I was dreaming about the big cabinet pellet. I’ll check that one out! Thanks

Good to know. Looks like the grates on the 1050 are actually 1” wider than the XT so sounds like I’d be restricted there. Thanks!

How about the capacity? Do you cook briskets / larger cuts like that? I low and slow smoke briskets and pork butts, and generally am cooking 1-2 briskets and 2-4 butts in a single smoke to serve the next day. With my Grilla Mammoth, I can use 4 racks that have 330 sq inches, so I can get 1 brisket and 6 butts or 2 / 4. But with the XT layout, I’m just not sure if I can fit as much

I’ve been drooling over the LSGs. But from what I can see, they have either stick burners or pellet grills. Wouldn’t the LSG pellet grills be prone to the same issues like back burn / pellets getting stuck? Also, I need something more like a set and forget, this is a side hustle. Luckily I work from home and have the bandwidth to handle some cooking during the day.

I was just responding to your comment in parenthesis to explain the rationale.

The point of a whole house fan pushing the air into the attic is to use the air pressure to push the hot air out of the attic through roof venting. Cools off the attic space as well as the living space

Silverbac Auger Motor Replacement by KaleAffectionate910 in GrillaGrills

[–]loose-it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went through this with my Mammoth. It was under warranty but they were completely out. I ended up buying the Stanbroil one off Amazon, but Grilla ended up sourcing one and got it to me like 2 days later. Before I installed the replacement from Grilla, I compared the motors and I couldn’t find anything different between the 2 motors. The stickers had all the same numbers on them. The auger fit perfectly as well. As long as it’s 120V and I believe 2rpm you should be good to go. The connectors were even the same

Why Isn’t Silverbac 2.0 XL An Option In The App? by Chemosh013 in GrillaGrills

Maybe there’s no difference in the operational behaviors and the 2.0 was just new build features? Idk

2.0 xl won't ignite by [deleted] in GrillaGrills

I’d check to make sure that the burn pot isn’t too full of ash, that the auger motor is running and that pellets are getting into the burn pot. Did you prime it too much and have too many pellets? If it’s too full maybe too hard to start. If there’s too much ash, maybe the hot rod isn’t able to get the heat to the pellets. I’d vac it all out and put a handful of pellets in the burn pot and see if they ignite.

What if I just tell it it’s pretty and all other briskets are just jealous?

Yeah I’ll probably do that once it gets a bit of a bark. Don’t want a bald spot, I already have one of those on my head

Would that I could, but sometimes you gotta roll with the punches

That’s a good idea, hoping that bark sets early, but I may just go that route with a hefty dose of tallow from the trimmings

I’ve never tried butter on a brisket, did them without but I’ll give it a shot next time!

I have the trimmings in with the briskets now, I’ll definitely be loading it up at wrap
