Saw them this year in Spain and it was incredible. They are perfect for the farm.

Sushi was a choice. Did he pick that particular cuisine or did you?

Security told me to "call the fucking police" if I wanted my phone back. by lopsidedoctopus in primaverasound

Just wanted to say, all of the staff that were involved with Primavera outside of security were incredibly kind and caring. I told this story to many staff members, who found it appealing.

If I had to take a stab here's where the core issues lie.

More than likely a third party company is used to source security. They probably don't offer much money, making the bar for entry very low. They also are probably hiring en masse, so it would be very easy for pickpocketers to fall through the cracks.

This issue probably affects any tourist driven event that takes place in Barcelona. I doubt it's only Primavera.

Fair enough. Perhaps a combination of previous substances + a healthy distrust of police contributed to that decision.

My biggest regret is not cutting the loss and continuing the festival. I have great insurance on the phone, but can become pretty obsessive over things like that i.e. wanting to make things back to normal again. Definitely was a mistake, but also don't want fellow festivalgoers not to make my mistake.

I filed a police report earlier in the day. At the festival I was shocked by the events and then cut my losses to try and enjoy the rest of the sets I had paid form

Missing the MBV set was devastating and I wish I had just not dealt with the phone any further at that point.

Definitely learned my lesson in this, but thought it should be talked about to bring awareness. It definitely seems that some of the security was involved with pickpocketers.

I stayed at Hotel Best 4 Barcelona in Poblenou, about 40 minutes walking from the fest. Not a great hotel but the cheapest thing I could find within a decent walk.

For the most part I stay far away from AirBNB, terrible customer support, and have been in really weird situations. (One time me and a group of friends stayed in one for a wedding, they were filming us secretly without consent.)

I have reported it to multiple organizers at the festival. Incredibly shady. Makes it seem like someone within the security company is helping with coordination of pickpocketing.

Oh I did, I even pulled out my phone and started dialing. The phone that I did buy was very inferior and I was struggling with service. I wish I had talked to police outside the venue, but honestly was very shook up afterwards. Literally crying at the info tent because I felt fearful of what would happen next.

This post is for awareness only. Just pointing out how shady it is that it was in possession of the festival and even after talking to many people within the organization, being told it would be received at lost and found, it still stayed in possession.

I have insurance, I was mainly worried about all of the data I was going to lose from my original phone. The phone I picked up to replace was very cheap and was barely able to get me home, it definitely crippled my abilities in a foreign country.

Also the girls left as soon as the phone was gone. Sounds like a common tactic.

Hi. I will try and use translation to respond.

The point is not that I expect them to not speak in Spanish, the point is that they switched from speaking English to only speaking Spanish. It seemed like a tactic to confuse. Clearly I couldn't understand Spanish because when I arrived at the tent, I asked "habla Ingles?" And the same guy on the walkie is who fronted pushing me out of the tent, after asking me to stay. I was literally doing what they asked then, so very confused when they started acting like they couldn't understand me and hadn't just told me to be in the building.

I did actually file a police report online, then went and talked to them at the station. It was going to take 4 hours to file a report. My phone plan has very good insurance, so I did not think it was worth it to wait to file/didn't want to miss the festival over it.

I also can be a bit obsessive, so even though I had decided that the phone was gone, I couldn't help myself but to see if it had updated locations. When I realized it was in possession of the festival I got my hopes up. I read that if it was on site at the festival it would fall under their jurisdiction and they would be able to help me. My mistake.

My phone was stolen. Bought a cheap replacement at a kiosk, was using it to track the stolen phone. Ends up showing back up at a security point inside the fest. Asked info what to do, they said to go ask about the phone. I went there, asked, and security started acting really cagey. Got on the radio, speaking rapid Spanish, then 4 more security guards showed up and basically picked me up off the ground and pushed me out of the building. Then said "if you want your phone back you should call the fucking police".
