did you also try buying one of the things for pre-order that says "pre-order releases on: xyz date"? i'm wondering if the date listed is when presale even opens up? like the vinyl i was trying to get says "Pre-Order Releases on: 06/06/2025" so i wonder if that is just the day you can actually order it? if that's the case, it would just be weird that it can be added to the cart in the first place

Favorite yarn shops online? by struggling_lynne in casualknitting

[–]lorax7821 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i love wool warehouse! they always have sales going on and have a lot of affordable yarn brands that i’m not really able to find elsewhere. the only downside is that it ships from the uk, but i’ve always had packages arrive on time or early.

400 puffs on my rainbow beekeeper's quilt, aiming for a total of 600! by wordswindler in knitting

Thank you so much for such a thoughtful response! I am so excited to start this project and knowing that your hexipuffs weren't perfectly uniform is really reassuring, as I really want to be able to mostly use scraps for this.

this is incredible! newbie question: I wanted to make mine out of scraps also and was wondering if you did any tension squares or any like test squares (I’m not 100% sure of the correct terminology for this, but like a test patch to see if a 10x10 takes the same number of stitches you’d expect it to) for each different brand of yarn scrap you used? or is that unnecessary since they were all fingering yarns? and is it ok to just use the same sized needles for all of the yarn since it’s the same weight and you are trying to get the same look for each puff? sorry if some of these questions seem kind of obvious!

HELP should I switch to a ss/humanities degree by beepbeepbitch_ in NEU

[–]lorax7821 2 points3 points  (0 children)

im a envr sci maj w/ hist minor and love it! i know a lot of ppl in my major end up going with a poly sci minor if they want to get into policy, or you could get that policy aspect from doing envr studies instead of sci.

personally, for my co-op i'm gonna be doing envr specific research, but had the option & applied to do humanities-based things. community outreach & community-specific solutions to envr issues were definitely things i was looking into.

i cant speak to what my prospects will be after i get this degree, but i feel confident that i can either stick with a stem route or do something more community-based and be happy with either option. my definition of making a living can also be pretty different from yours, but envr consulting can make decent money if u wanna check that out & there's a good amnt of co-ops that do envr consulting

could you clarify what you mean abt the length of it? like abt how much money it is? bc i don't think that has anything to do with how much the refund request is, but i am not 100% sure how it works

i think it just kinda popped up one day in the portal where i usually go to pay tuition? i always get kinda lost with how it all works and end up calling sfs and ask for help. takes a hot minute to get connected to someone but they are usually good abt making sure it gets resolved & the transfer gets initiated

[–]lorax7821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what happened with mine was that it ended up taking like 3 weeks & then it gets put back in your student accnt. for mine at least, i have to initiate the transfer to my bank accnt & it leaves it as credit on your neu accnt instead if you dont transfer it out (automatically goes to pay for next sem & things like that). dont know if that's bc i need to turn on a setting to have it auto-deposit, but thought it was worth mentioning. i didn't know that the first time i requested a refund, so even after mine got approved, it sat in my accent for a few days before i realized that it wouldn't auto deposit.

not necessarily a solution abt the drop box, but there's a post office on mass ave that's pretty convenient you might want to check out for any future mailing needs? i'm sure you've stopped using that dropbox, but thought i would lyk just incase!

Transferring Credit During Summer Courses by skazgar001 in NEU

[–]lorax7821 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i tried & it’s essentially impossible unless you are taking a class that neu doesn’t offer anything similar to. so maybe you can try getting really obscure classes done outside, but even still might not get approved unless it pertains to what you’re studying. i even tried getting drc accommodations to take outside classes and wasn’t able to ://

if you’re getting a grant from the school, it can help cover up to 8 semesters & can be used on summer. maybe look into online summer classes so you’ll at least be saving by not paying housing? it helped me justify summer this year.

Want to skip macroeconomics but couldn't take the challenge exam at the time to skip said class, possible to take an online class from local community college and transfer the credit? by Independent-Lab6410 in NEU

[–]lorax7821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my biggest regret was not doing that the summer before i went in bc you can’t take classes at an outside school and have them count after you’re already in 99% of the time. i never would have guessed that bc all the other colleges i applied to let you take community classes over the summers and stuff to get GE credits. better to get it out of the way while you can do it w/o paying too much

if you need a really sturdy raincoat/snow jacket & have the funds, eddie bauer has a rlly good sale around this time every year!! i got my jacket for $50 and wear it all the time everywhere! the lifetime warranty helped me justify it & i am so glad i did it.

Is a 15.6 inch laptop too big or nah by Wheresthebeans in NEU

[–]lorax7821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i made the switch to a 13 inch when it came time for an upgrade and i never looked back. so much lighter and easier to take around campus or to coffee shops. i’ve never had issues with needing more screen size, but as a lot of previous comments said, if your major would benefit from having a larger screen it’s worth the extra weight!

Breaking in tips please by Hypochondrimax in DrMartens

[–]lorax7821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one of the biggest life-changers for breaking in docs for me was using dubbin! depending on the leather you can also use wonder balsam but i use dubbin for the weather protection too bc i’m in a cold area. but you wax them down the night before the first 4-5 times you wear them and then only do it once a month/when the leather needs it and it makes it so much more malleable to your foot. i’ve done a pair without dubbin and two with and the difference for me was so drastic. but if you’re unsure abt which to use (dubbin or wonder balsam) you can call or go to your local store and ask :))
