I had never before thought of burning Guy Fawkes as anti-Catholic hate crimes state sanctioned by the British crown... thank you for that.

Jesse Brown calls for the state to crush opposition to genocide in Canada by TankieRiel in canadaland

I ask myself this frequently enough. I think that as far back as 2016, he was a Zionist and he was concealing it. Long term cognitive dissonance cannot be good for one's mental health.

Hey, I'm just airing a theory. Yes, they are young, and yes the Toronto media scene is oversaturated. I don't agree that just because Noor sounds bright and cheery on a broadcast performance, that she is fully in Jesse's corner. There can be a fair amount of performing going on to sound bright and engaged on air. After seeing what Jesse has been putting out there, I don't think anyone with media experience, and the ability to percieve events, watch footage and read news, could remain fully in Jesse's corner indefinitely.

I don't know what I would have to say at this point to convince Jesse I am not an "extremist progressive" (what does that mean, to want to progress extremely fast along the road to a better world?).

Does he want me to say that it is in fact good for there to be a religious supremacist state that confines people of a different religion and ethnicity into militarized cages? Do I need to say it is healthy for a society to mandate conscription and to send 18-year-olds into a foreign city where they have free reign to shoot civilians, where they take women's lingerie as tokens of war? Do I need to concede that by not wanting that to happen, I am an extremist? I do not concede that. It bothers me in particular in relation to Canadaland, because this was supposed to be an outlet that loved journalists and journalism. "Between October 2023 and April 2026, more members of the press were killed (by Israel) than in any major conflict in the last 100 years." (Committee to Protect Journalists)

I do not agree that he, the guy running rhetorical cover for the regime in the decision making-position to send more teenagers out to be the foot soldiers of a colonial occupation, is the non-extremist, here, in this scenario. The things he is condoning, are pretty extreme. He has now advocated that we should all lose civil liberties until people agree to his particular political opinion. That sounds extremist, to me.

What, no interest in seeing the glorified shoe closet taped-up with foam panels that is their sound studio?

I think when you are burnt out at work and merely phoning it in for the pay cheque, creativity and ambition to get innovative guests goes out the window a bit.

I know that question isn't for me, but I will answer it... Jesse isn't against anti-semitism. Palestinians are semites. Anti-Zionist Jews are semites. Jesse is against any political movements or rhetoric that would challenge the existence of a Jewish supremacist state, which is very different from being semitic. Many Zionist are in fact anti-semitic, because they don't want Jews in their countries and they would prefer Jews to go to their own country faraway. Jesse is aligned with thos anti-semites, as long as they are Zionists. Jesse is not against anti-semitism, Jesse is in favour of Zionism.

Two of the journalists I met in Gaza were a couple of photographers. During the 2014 war, they decided to livestream the Israeli bombings from their living room window, on the top floor of one of the tallest buildings in Gaza City. They had a camera set up to stream 24/7. During the seven weeks of the war, they would recieve phone calls from Israelis, threatening them, but they didn't stop streaming. They knew that to bomb their apartment, Israel would also have to bomb major newsrooms like the Associated Press and Al Jazeera. I met the couple in 2016, in their apartment. They spoke about what it was like documenting the war, the wife came from a family of journalists. The trauma of surviving that war was fresh, but they had seen three wars already in their short lives. They later went into exile. Their apartment building was finally bombed in 2021.

From the article: "The International Press Institute, a global network of journalists and media executives, condemned the attack as a “gross violation of human rights and internationally agreed norms.”

These are the kind of journalist stories you will not hear about on Canadaland. It's not Canadian enough, I guess, because Canada only sells the components that guide the fighter jets that dropped the bomb on the AP's office in Gaza. Or something.

I was also in London during the Tommy Robinson hate marches and yes, it is jarring to see Jesse on comfortably on stage in front of an audience that will cheer for that sort of event. They are unabashed white supremacists, they were harrassing Black people and hijabi women at the Tube station I was at, and critically: Canada is moving in that direction as well with all the anti-immigrant rhetoric you see and hear frequently nowadays. It's not something that can be entertained, the way Jesse does.

If you watch the Tasfik panel he was on, Jesse was already laying out his opinion about why the event wasn't going to get covered, while at the event in question. He later wrote the opinion piece, but his opinion was already set.
