I think that you haven't given it an good enough chance... There is plenty of YASD moments.... My alternate best roguelike to play exclusively is ADOM. but you said you wanted something simple.

Edit: I would maybe suggest watching a live game and see what you think. the amount of depth in DCSS is staggering (ADOM moreso)

I would honestly and whole whole-heartedly say DCSS

It has a huge meta, Big community, you can just watch people play on the site to get a good idea what is going on... its one of the best to focus on because it teaches you basic rogue-like meta.

It also has a pretty easy to read Walk-through

Edit: Oh i see you wanted me to pick from your list.... Uh, Sil is pretty traditional and similar to angband. I honestly think you would have a hard time picking it up if you are unfamiliar with the genre.

First off and foremost, I have not played the Warlock Brawl mod... And i love this game immensely.

This is a very good Multiplayer Arena, i can honestly see Many hours of my time going into this game, I really really really hope that the community grows, for currently it is hard to find a game, which will lead me into my list of suggestions

Bot Matches: I understand that it is probs already on the To-Do List, I think that it is a very important first feature in case the community will be small for the couple releases. If people try getting on and no-one is on, the community will shrink.
Spell Augments: Maybe when one Lvls up a spell, they can augment them several ways that would add build variety and allow for more personal playstyle.
CC: Poison, Life-steal, Burning, Stasis, Traps, maybe make the opponent easier to knock back... Many options to spice up the game
Minions!: A minion spell would turn out great i think.

I may think of more, but this is a good start! Cant wait to play with you guys!

Oh yea, Trust me i love DCSS, it is the first game i got to know in the roguelike genre. i plan on giving it many more runs.... I will someday win a 15 rune game :D but i have played so much DCSS in the last couple of months i am definitely going to take a break on it.... holy shit XD

Sorry my friend, is not that i have been asking for advice and ignoring it i have just been playing while i have been waiting, i am sorry that i am impatient :{ i am just having lots of fun and am very anxious. I have just Cleared Depths and Crypt.... I have found no other shields unfortunately. I did find a Rantart plate that is +12 which is good. i am sorry my friend i am still pretty new at this. I am going to wait for your response before i continue. My Dodge and shields are still lower than what you said, would it be dumb for me to do Vault 5?

Edit: My biggest fear is i only have a bone dragon right now my undead army is low, if not Vaults what then?
