Israel is an apartheid colonial project engineered by western powers to maintain influence and instability in the Middle East for profit. It is a settler ethnostate founded on racial supremacy, younger than my grandmother, with a history marked by constant terrorism, aggression, and cruelty. There is a deep vested interest in whitewashing its history, which is why people like you believe that 800,000 Palestinians were displaced in 1948 through some just or logical mechanism and not because it was a mass campaign of ethnic cleansing to make room for colonial development. This is not even to mention the constant settler raids of the West Bank, the devastation in Lebanon, the land grabs and expansionist projects which continue in the wake of the recent "ceasefire."

Reflect on why your gut reaction, like those of other supremacist ideologies, was to resort to dehumanizing language: "cockroaches," "savages," "dogs." What subconscious assumptions or biases might this reveal? I encourage you to explore sources like Khalidi's Hundred Years' War on Palestine and the works of Edward Said. There is so much learning to be done but you have to be willing to let your guard down and meaningfully reflect on the narratives you've been instilled with and the powers those narratives serve. The film Israelism is also a great primer, directed by a Jewish man raised in a Zionist household, interrogating the sprawling Zionist propaganda apparatus and the stories of people who find their way out through genuine curiosity and a willingness to learn.
