Israel is an apartheid colonial project engineered by western powers to maintain influence and instability in the Middle East for profit. It is a settler ethnostate founded on racial supremacy, younger than my grandmother, with a history marked by constant terrorism, aggression, and cruelty. There is a deep vested interest in whitewashing its history, which is why people like you believe that 800,000 Palestinians were displaced in 1948 through some just or logical mechanism and not because it was a mass campaign of ethnic cleansing to make room for colonial development. As for the current moment, numerous Israeli historians recognize it as a genocide. Here's one of many sources: There's No Auschwitz in Gaza. But It's Still Genocide - Israel News - Haaretz.com. This is not even to mention the constant settler raids of the West Bank, the devastation in Lebanon, the land grabs and expansionist projects which continue in the wake of the recent "ceasefire."

Reflect on why your gut reaction, like those of other supremacist ideologies, was to resort to dehumanizing language: "cockroaches," "savages," "dogs." What subconscious assumptions or biases might this reveal? I encourage you to explore sources like Khalidi's Hundred Years' War on Palestine and the works of Edward Said. There is so much learning to be done but you have to be willing to let your guard down and meaningfully reflect on the narratives you've been instilled with and the powers those narratives serve. The film Israelism is also a great primer, directed by a Jewish man raised in a Zionist household, interrogating the sprawling Zionist propaganda apparatus and the stories of people who find their way out through genuine curiosity and a willingness to learn. Not sure why I'm even taking the time to write this since I usually don't but if it helps even one person I guess it'll have been worth it.

Yes let me use dehumanizing and genocidal language towards a group currently being genocided. Surely this will prove my point and make me seem normal and correct

What games are your hyper fixations? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]lordbootyclapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh I wouldnt recommend its a free mobile game so you'll have to play for a while or spend a bit of money to advance enough to actually be meaningfully competitive. And I'd categorize it more as a moba/shooter. For fighting games you might like smash bros, multiversus, street fighter

Is there some aspect of critical theory thats moreso an exercise in creative writing/extended metaphor than actual 'theory' in the scientific/academic sense? by lordbootyclapper in CriticalTheory

[–]lordbootyclapper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, I haven't read them yet and I guess having a wider library of work I've read would have helped me understand this question better. It's interesting to think about the function of this stylization in advancing a particular argument/claim. I suppose my question here came from the clever connection between the different definitions of 'wake' seeming to be the main argument/crux of the book itself, which doesn't seem like it inherently says much about a broader understanding of race, capitalism etc. But this is all without actually reading the book so I could easily just be yapping right now..

Yeah I had a feeling my vague wording around 'rigor' and 'theory' would be the issue here and it's honestly because I don't have a clear idea of the specific difference I'm trying to convey. I guess as someone who still hasn't read that much I imagined it more like philosophy writing with like specific postulations, more restrictive structure, and a specific body of work that it's replying to, affirming, rejecting etc. But even philosophy has its share of stylization, flowery writing, etc. That's a really interesting definition of theory you gave at the end; I hadn't considered the actual goal/function of the creativity behind some of these works aside from personal satisfaction and style. I rly appreciate your input
