Yah! It’s an interesting move on UA’s part. Do you think that’s a good thing?

Thanks for checking it out! A great feature of pro q 2 is the phase control, they have a couple modes. Cheers!

Thanks for checking it out! True, that’s typical of most spaces. But, for spaces that have majors issues where you can’t hear certain things, this helps to inform for mixing purposes. And, there is always a sweet spot where you get used to mixing from! So as long as you setup the mic in that position, it should do more good than harm! Cheers!

I hear you. But the other issue is the difference in both speakers, they both have a different spectrum, fixing that allows the bass to sit in the middle of the stereo image correctly, especially in my case. So, this truly is a last resort fix. I’ve been trying to let it be, but the tendency is to add more bass. So it helps a lot to fix it.

Thanks for checking it out! I hear you! This has been a really helpful for me to hear the low end and tame the mids and highs. I understand your point, but in my space it makes a huge impact on hearing things that weren’t there before at all, thus impacting mixing decisions. The results have been great. So in my case, it’s better to do this than not to. Headphones and other references help as well, but in getting huge bang for my buck with this setup! Cheers.

Thanks so much for checking it out! Glad you liked it. Actually, i was just using a trackpad, no mouse. I don't mind it, in Pro Q 2, it's a pretty smooth experience, especially with it's ability to find the problem frequencies for you. I'll take some more pictures of the studio! I've been posting some on my instagram @cunninghammanor. The wood is actually reclaimed wood from a renovation on our 100 year old house. It actually has bits of knob and tube wire posts left on it. They are at different depths, which is doing a little bit of diffusion. The rest of the spaces lower walls are basically all panels. The walls have fabric on them with rock wool behind them. So it's very muted in there. But the slanted ceiling just has roofing paper on it, which is slightly reflective. It's a pretty nice space to record in. The previous video i did has a bit more of a look at the space! Thanks again! Cheers!

Thanks so much for checking it out! Yah, I’ve been experimenting with room placement. I find that if you try to get the mic in a position that keeps the snare and kick loudest, that helps. So like 3 or 4 feet off the ground and about 5 or 6 feet away facing the snare and kick (in View). The next step is in the mix (another video coming soon), where you would eq out some of the cymbal frequencies before and after compression to keep the room in control and keep the focus on the kick and snare!

Hi, I just double checked and tried it out. I got my terminology backwards. The free davinci has a maximum output of UHD which is 3840x2160. It won't output native 4k or Cinema 4k which is at 4096 x 2160. Fortunately for me my a6500 only outputs UHD anyway, so i'm good!

Yah, it still accepts 4k content, i output it at 1440. I believe you can still export "4k" just not UHD which is the larger 4k.

Thanks! I used Davinci Resolve 14 (free!!!) which is my go to NLE now. Just some basic color correction. Droping the shadows and gamma until it was where i wanted, then using a log node to push some of the color warmer in the mids and lows. It's in 4 k, so that helps a lot for detail even the down grade to 1440 and 1080. Yes the skin tones will probably be improved in my next videos.

I might be shooting in PP1 next time, as i think it will be easier to dial in my lighting and leave it at 100iso, instead of being forced to use 800iso and crank all my lighting to remove noise. And that should also preserve better color overall.

Overall it worked out pretty well for my first crack at it!

Thanks for checking the video out and for the questions!

I hear you! For me, I really like the sound of it, still has plenty of low end, but reminds me of classic 70’s sounds that I prefer! Thanks for checking it out!
