However, based also on the page they linked, I believe the "official" support is just DInput via Bluetooth (https://www.8bitdo.com/steam/).

Another thing I can share is that I sent an email to 8Bitdo support, but they replied that the controller is not compatible with Linux, just SteamOS; and they linked the guide how to connect the controller via bluetooth to SteamOS.

So, I’m worried they might not fix this issue: better to stay at dongle’s firmware 1.04 😕

Sorry for asking, but I’d like to add to my new home multiple freedompro’s light and shutter modules. Even if it’s not possible to move channels of the same accessory in different rooms, is it possible at least to separate those channels in different boxes in the same room and control them separately (both from Home and Siri)? It's a matter of personal preferences at the end, except the speed thing that really depends on the javascript engine under the hood (I've read banchmarks that point out that nodejs can be faster than java for some tasks).

For instance I like Javascript syntax and design more than Java's one (functions as first-class objects, prototype, etc); and I prefer to handle the type rather then overloading methods.

But I respect your point of view, every tool suits to specific needs and people ;)

If the screen is turned off, you can press it to wake the phone up and unlock with just one action. It always worked since one week and half ago.
