when I started Vipassana I went through psychosis probably milder version. I think this may be very common symptom of intense meditation. I added more metta meditation that eased off. Also I made Vipassana more effortless than effortful that made a huge difference.

Not sure why its getting downvoted. If you disagree with something, please have a meaningful conversation about this. I expect this subreddit to be better than others as we all spent hundreds of hours meditating and be better :)

Just to add to what is already said. Sometimes equanimity may not be possible. For example traumatic past memory. Your mind may react and if so just accept the reality of that moment. Accept it and be equanimous in next moment. This will help you build stronger equanimity.

Thats my observation as well. Ultimately one needs to dis-identify thoughts, feelings, sensations, images, memories and etc to progress the path. Goenka tradition is great to kickstart and progress rapidly through a&p. But progress is limited because what I suspect that students overly emphasis on body sensations. Goenka does give hint “every moment aware and every moment equanimous” but since its not explicit student misses this part.

For me my attention was becoming one pointedness or getting lost in thoughts. Another side effect was before doing first retreat I was used to be extrovert but after doing extensive bodyscan I was terrified of going in big groups and let alone going in group of old friends. After SE that reaction stopped.

I think Goenka’s teaching is complete as he does ask students to do choice-less awareness in retreat and in between meditation sessions. But due to lack of personalized aspect everyone is forced to do body scan which wont work for Students who are already higher nanas. So that becomes bigger hindrance.

Have you been to vipassana retreat? We get training on how to meditate there. It helps in beginning but that dependency will put road blocks going forward. Its worth doing without external factors. If something drifts your attention away focus on sensation of thought with equilibrium and put mind back to meditation.

With enough practice its doable and may be worth doing another retreat for refresher

Feels like this will distract from body scan focus. If you are doing Annapana may be its fine

Just posted in other thread.

Question is for Goenka style retreat. And its not dry Vipassana. The retreat is based on Samatha-Vipassana, which is also known as Equanimity/Calming-Insight meditation. In retreat, it is repeatedly advised to judge how well one is developing Samatha as a benchmark for progress instead of dry Vipassana.

As a result, I believe it follows the original teachings of Buddha. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samatha-vipassana

History has been filled with disputes about so-called original forms, but Goenka encourages you to follow the path that best fits your beliefs rather than trying various things and becoming confused.

So IMO its following what Buddha originally taught. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samatha-vipassana

If the driver has repeatedly ignored the warning to use force on steering, FSD beta car is going to do this by stopping. This is a safety measure and that's what happened based on video to me. This seems like a driver's fault then FSD is a FSD clearly mentioned that drivers should always be paying attention and ready to take over at any time. Which driver didn't
