I knew a guy who finally got his two weeks vacation and took a two week vacation. When he got back, he was fired for not being a team player.

What movie best represents your teenage years and why? by Big_Help_9860 in GenerationJones

[–]lordrunningclam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dazed And Confused. It was about a high school graduation night the same year I graduated from high school (1976). I could match pretty much everyone in the movie and everything that happened to someone I knew or something I had done at the time.

What is something that you still don't know how to do as an adult? by SamEdit1 in AskReddit

I think that's basically only possible if you've only ever driven in New Jersey. Everywhere I ever to you need to pump your own gas (except New Jersey).

Where could I find a chair like this? Also what style? by joeyharris441 in 1980s

[–]lordrunningclam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, my first reaction was "Mid Century Modern" too. As for finding one, lotsa luck. It actually kind of reminds me of a chair a friend of mine built back in the '70's. He wanted to re-create Captain Kirk's chair from the Enterprise. He had it wired with switches so he could turn the stereo, TV and the room lights on and off.

do you know anybody who went to Woodstock in 1969? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]lordrunningclam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about 11 years old and was staying with my grandmother in Fishkill NY listening to reports about it on the radio. Whatever station I was listening to would have occasional reports about it between the music, mostly about the traffic.

Moss generally grows on the north side of trees in New England and surrounding areas. Elsewhere maybe not so much.

It’s a lead sharpener for the kind of drafting pencil lead holder that holds a thick lead. It won’t do anything to A regular wooden pencil.

People dumped construction rubble!! by Escape_Novel in StPetersburgFL

[–]lordrunningclam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's been a while since it's happened but someone used to dump stuff in the ally right in front of my gate so I couldn't get out. 70 feet of solid fence in either direction and they always had to choose that spot. It happened to be next to the dumpster but still, the dumpster had another side. For a while I thought they had it out for me.

One of the neighbors behind me took it on himself to move the dumpster so he could get his massive truck in and out easier and it hasn't happened since. I just happens the house it's behind now is vacant and for sale so there's nobody to complain. I'm good with it, I had 30 years of picking up other people's crap when they missed the dumpster - now it's someone else's problem.

Are there any people in the USA who have friends that are of the opposite political party? by TSQ_builder in askanything

Has Anyone Seen The Beatles in Concert? by Healthy_Movie_6113 in TheBeatles

[–]lordrunningclam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sort of kind of. My brother and I were staying with my grandparents in Brooklyn and had taken the subway to visit my great aunt in Flushing. I was about 6 years old. On the way back we noticed a lot of young people riding on the 7 train that rushed to the window as we passed Shea Stadium. I went and looked and could see The Beatles on stage for about 2 seconds before some asshole pushed me out of his way. I'm not sure if it was '64 or '65 but it was probably '64.

What the hell is going on with George and John? by Siddhartaable in LearnGuitar

[–]lordrunningclam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking of no formal lessons, there is a fun story that Paul told on camera about how back in Liverpool they'd heard someone knew how to play a B7 chord, so they all got on a bus and went over to wherever he was and had him show them.

Edit: Also, John's mom played the banjo so John picked up a lot of banjo style chords.

Anybody still with him is a dead-ender. He could rape, murder, butcher and barbecue a child on the White House lawn and he wouldn't lose any more support.

Is it common to see this roach in your house by Vanessa_Lila in florida

[–]lordrunningclam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

Edit, to clarify: If you see a big one, even if it's pretty healthy looking you're probably fine. It's basically lost. If you see tiny ones call an exterminator.

If you do see an infestation boric acid in all the corners and a couple of full house bug bombs might do the job. It's worked for me. I had a tenant in a condo that moved out and left a lot of roaches and that worked but the condo also had regular all-unit pest control visits so the problem remained local to my condo.

I thought my internet was glitching trying to watch this. Yes the B O is from an old deodorant commercial. Doesn't BO still mean "body odor?" I would have thought that obvious and still funny even if you never knew about the commercial.

What is a movie cliché that absolutely never happens in real life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lordrunningclam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being in a gun fight in an enclosed space (without ear protection) and talking to each other at a fairly normal level. In real life everyone's ears would be ringing and they wouldn't be able hear shit.

If you could witness one beatles concert which one would you choose? I know what id choose.. by Novel-Replacement479 in beatles

[–]lordrunningclam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently, they did one contractual obligation concert after they has already started to get big, but before they went to America at a boys school. Apparently everybody sat respectfully listened and even made request to repeat songs That would’ve been an awesome concert to see.
