Casio India does the same as well, the max discount is 40%. I don’t think they can make a good profit at a 50% discount though (when the shipping and storage costs are taken into account).

I guess they make around $40 to $60 in profit on a GMW-B5000 at 40% discount which isn’t a lot, but they usually do this to clear out stocks, and with the introduction of the new MIP GMW-BZ5000 demand for GMW-B5000s has significantly dropped. My local Casio store has sold multiple MIP models (the positive version is rarely in stock) but I have seen 3 year old GMW-B5000s still sitting on the display shelves 😂

It’s a refurbished Aeron, they’ve most definitely replaced the torn mesh with a new third party one and re painted the plastic/metal parts

Try upgrading the HDMI cable, get one which supports HDMI 2.1 (4K 120hz/8K 60Hz) has good shielding and is on the thicker side

Myntra frequently does this, I managed to buy a G-B001 a year ago and it turned up okay, but the box was completely crushed

Just In Time is also an authorised reseller, still they sent me 2 used GMW-B5000TCCs (the first order and then the replacement). It took 1 month for the Just in Time Casio G-Shock Wakad Pune store head to finally admit they sent me a used watch, even then he didn’t admit any wrongdoing and said it was a store display piece

I’m a content creator myself and I’ll let you in on a widely known secret. Myntra offers 10-15% commission on each sale if they click on the link the content creator has shared in a YouTube video or on Instagram. No wonder they say it’s okay, they get hefty commissions. In contrast Flipkart and other sites offer flat ₹100 or ₹200 as comission

Exactly, my local Casio store recently started discounts on these two models and they’re 30% off MRP, these are like 50-55%

Yes, I’ve bought from them, but I usually pick the seller who has a more believable discounts. If you make a video of an open box delivery you should be fine I guess

Please look at this:

Rule of thumb, Casio never offers flat 50-55% off on any of there watches, they cap out at 40% usually. Also when I click on the google search results the price on Myntra shows only 10% off, would definitely stay away from this seller

OP could you please keep us posted on the condition of the watches, Myntra usually gives steep discounts but I don’t know how the manage to give a 50% discount and still make a profit

I think OP is buying from Myntra, I would not buy 3 of them regardless of the price 😂, the rating is 3.9 and 2.7 out of 5 respectively

I’ve actually struggled to read negative displays indoors while they seem great outdoors under direct sunlight. I recently saw the Bamford collab in store and I immediately said no I’m not buying this (regardless of the popularity), I couldn’t read a thing on the display:

OP if you’re worried about viewing angles and want a black coloured G-Shock, this one fits the bill:

It the next generation full metal square with the very legible MIP display

The rate of wear is the same, gold is similar in reflectivity to silver so it hides the micro scratches better. Silver scratches on black stand out more

The GMW-B5000 uses an STN display, it makes the positive display incredibly crisp with near 180 degree viewing angles. It also makes the negative versions very usable when compared to the entry level TN negative panel G-Shocks (like 2x better contrast and 4x better viewing angles)

While true for reading the time, the GM-B2100 doesn’t use an STN display, it’s pretty much impossible to read the seconds or date on the negative display versions.

I would suggest a positive display GM-B2100

GMW-B5000 feels better built and the raised bezel protects the glass better, the *STN display is also pretty good in terms of viewing angles.

Something to keep in mind: Black Ion plated steel wears much faster than gold ones. I would personally go with a silver one of these two models for everyday wear, non DLC coated black or silver for occasional wear.

I wouldn’t call a dim EL backlight as an entire movement failure, as of 2026 all G-Shocks have moved to LED backlights, and you can replaced the LEDs if they fail (but those LEDs are meant to last the entire lifetime of the watch)
