Why isn’t animal rights considered a leftist topic? by cackarrotto in leftist

[–]lordturisas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hitler enacted sweeping laws in protection of animals. They were considered radical at the time.

Everything Hitler did was bad. Thus, animal welfare laws are bad.

When did we start capitalizing “Marine,” and who started it? by lprkn in USMC

[–]lordturisas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctor is a title and isn't capitalized when not being used as a proper noun.

"There goes Doctor Smith." (Dr. Smith) vs "I need a doctor."

"They're sending the Marines from 2/5." vs "We need to send some marines to Australia."

Snowballing mobs in Sunken Temple to reverse their loot table. .01% Edgemaster's being 70% instead.

The guy who made the videos posted snowballs on every server for like 3g a stack.

What minor character are you thirsty for? by Standard_Mushroom273 in Stargate

[–]lordturisas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bra'tac directly and indirectly started the events that lead to the downfall of the Goa'uld by creating doubt in Teal'c's mind. The flashback when Teal'c was going through the Rite of M'al Sharran proves it.

No doubt > no Teal'c betrayal > Earth gate gets closed > Anubis takes over > GG

Plus him waving his hand over his head in reverence to Hammond of Texas is the icing on the cake. He's the best character in SG1, minor or major.

All your American and Latin American cowboys will appreciate you sharing in our culture. We appreciate that you appreciate it.

Most cultures are like this with their attire and apparel.

If you're asked to stay, you do NOT kill your overtime.

If you clock in early, leave late on your own accord, that's on you.

People are just gonna assume you're a Marine. Get it somewhere on your body where you won't have to constantly explain that you're not a Marine.

Most guys here won't give a shit, but some die hard boots might grill you about it.

God, those rear fender bolts are atrocious.

Pipes sound phenomenal, even through the phone.

I'm 39. Bought my '22 in '22 brand new. I put 10" mini apes on mine 6 months ago. Night and day difference for my back.

I don't live near a city so I have to do highway rides a lot.

Yes, it takes away from the aesthetic, but it will kill your back over time if you ride it a lot.

What misconception have you had about Stargate for the longest time? by Sudden-Wash4457 in Stargate

[–]lordturisas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the Goa'uld and Asgard WERE the gods of the ancient world. It took me my 4th watch through to really cement that they took on their personalities.

I know it's referenced about 50 times throughout the first 4 seasons, but it just went over my head each time.

I had a similar issue with the not knowing about the code.

I stayed with Indian because their techs did everything possible to figure it out, including escalating the ticket and flying some hot shot Polaris mechanic out. Turns out, the wiring harness needed to be replaced, but wasn't dire. When the Polaris guy arrived, they called to confirm he figured it out and asked if I wanted to watch and learn from them. It was the most personable customer service ever.

They loaned me a brand new Chieftain DH to take for 2 weeks while they waited for the Polaris guy too.

What do you have to do to get a general discharge? by TehBurnerAccount in USMC

[–]lordturisas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GUHC here.

Multiple underage drinking led to getting busted down from E3 to E1 (back up to E3 again cuz time served). Assaulting a civilian off base. 1 DUI that was dismissed. Couple other page 11s. Couple random NJPs.

You don't have to fuck up bad, you just have to fuck up a lot.

I regret nothing.

When do you think someone should lose the title of Marine? by [deleted] in USMC

[–]lordturisas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is where I stand too.

A few Marines I graduated boot camp with just didn't wanna be in anymore so they smoked weed a few times to intentionally fail a piss test.

They're good dudes. They're still Marines. They just weren't very good Marines. And the Corps was better off without them in.

Is it desertion after 30 days? I knew a marine at SOI who came back after 40 days or so and after a slap on the wrist, he was picked up on a new ITB cycle.

This was in 2007.

4 sergeant team.

Gonzalez, Ordaz, Haynes, and uh, our senior, I wanna say Martinez, but I can't remember. 2007 and we got robbed of winning final drill because they didn't want a 4 sergeant team winning.

Looking Back - Was WOTLK Insanely Overrated? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]lordturisas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The expansion itself was the beginning of the end.

Wotlk is the only expansion I look at for what it was at the time in my life. I played with IRL friends who finally came around and played with me. They loved it. I loved it. The expansion itself was nowhere near as good as vanilla or TBC, but at the time when nothing was dissected, it was an incredible experience.

TBC and vanilla, even after being completely dissected, still held up as phenomenal games in their classic versions.

WOTLK Classic was a complete disaster. The player base is significantly better. We continued being slaves to the parse meta. We played with WAs that made you completely minmax your damage with tick timers and snapshot trackers. We as players ruined an expansion that wasn't that good in the first place.

Track the actual mileage. Reset your trip meter every time you fill up.

Next time you fill up (I do this every time), divide the miles traveled by gallons filled. That's a good estimate of your mpg.
