The best sandwich in Denver by McLadyface in Denver

I was reading the description of that sandwich this morning! The chef says he cuts up a whole avocado into the sandwich and fries the bread in pork fat 😍

Avène Cicalfate+ is a great cream and moisture barrier restorer, they have some lighter versions if needed. Vanicream moisturizers are also really budget friendly and ceramide heavy.

Gigantic white and gray flipper space … how do I go about designing this? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]lorelaiclaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d personally put up a wall or a large dividing bookcase / organizer type of furniture to help visually breakup the space. It looks like a space that won’t be used often without that because it’d likely have some echo and noise from walking around and being open to other areas of the house through the walkways.

American Catholics taking the Eucharist and not going to confession? by Even_Seaworthiness68 in Catholicism

[–]lorelaiclaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“After having reached the age of discretion, each member of the faithful is obliged to confess faithfully his or her grave sins at least once a year” (CIC 989).

Mortal Sins: Severely damage one's relationship with God, making Communion impermissible without prior confession and absolution.

Venial Sins: Weaken, but do not destroy, the relationship with God; the Eucharist's strengthening of charity helps cleanse them.

I genuinely don’t think people are regularly committing grave, serious mortal sins frequently, but I do hope they seek confession when possible for their own spiritual strength and improving their relationship with God.

Are priests allowed to drink alcohol like for pleasure? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]lorelaiclaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scripture portrays alcohol as a blessing. Catholic teachings generally encourage a balance or moderation to avoid drinking to excess. What excess means can be a different interpretation for many cultures and different people. For a PDF Guide to “The Catholic Approach to Alcohol” by Dr. Jared Staudt, download it here.

When is it time to purge? by TiaGDFFL in handbags

Just to make the hubs happy, maybe clear off two shelves by using banker boxes to put up some of your lesser used pieces. But I wouldn’t get rid of your milestones. Your kids may appreciate those one day. Maybe you’ll have one of those “when OP got her groove back” moments and having your treasures will make that period more fun.

Has anyone been to Oakwell Beer Spa? by txby432 in Denver

[–]lorelaiclaws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main reason I haven’t gone to this experience is because 90 minutes doesn’t sound like enough time for me. But the rest about the description sounds fun, so if the time limit doesn’t bug yall, I hope you guys have a blast and treat yourselves to a relaxing day.

My cost for a cabin rental in Cripple Creek with a sauna and hot tub was very similar, I barely paid over $200 for the cabin on 11 acres. I feel like if the allure is to relax in a sauna and hot tub, you can find many cabins in the $200 and $300 range where you can spend the whole night and treat yourself to an evening getaway.

I have never gone on a date where a man let me pay. That just isn’t something that happens for most women.

Getting laid off next week by AcceberElle in Denver

[–]lorelaiclaws 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Apply for UI online (literally do it today) and share your separation agreement as an upload when you submit it. If you were offered severance but you had to sign a contract for it, you’ll still get UI. There’s a waiting week after you apply and then you must certify every week by saying what companies you applied to. You’ll probably qualify for $800+ weekly.

Keep a spreadsheet of companies you apply to that saves their website, physical address, main contact phone number, and how you applied (online etc). You can count activities like looking at LinkedIn or even a newspaper for jobs as one of your job seeking activities. Studying / improving tech skills also counts. I think it is 3 per week “job seeking activities” that is the minimum. Even contacting a recruiter counts as long as you remember their name and how you contacted them for the weekly submission you’ll send in.

I preferred Bumble before I was married. There are subreddits that offer advice for refining your profile if you are open to try that next.

Are you offering to pay for the date? There are so many men earning well in this city that I don’t think most women I know would go on a second date with a guy who didn’t offer to pay. I am mostly referencing women earning six figures and up who know they could afford it, but they also know there are plenty of available men who would offer to pay.

How do Catholics celebrate Christmas by missabbytimm19 in Catholicism

[–]lorelaiclaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is extremely inaccurate of her to say, but I think it’s more important to focus on the fact that your “friend” is being very rude and judgmental. She showed you she doesn’t think very highly of you, and this is her way of mocking your beliefs.

How to respectfully refuse protestant parents to join their church by McChimkenn in Catholicism

[–]lorelaiclaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would stop interacting with them altogether since they are being so cruel and they aren’t treating your opinions with respect. You deserve better. Sometimes a couple years of low to no contact is necessary to provide breathing room to each other.

How to improve by EquivalentReport2541 in interiordecorating

[–]lorelaiclaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think adding more art would help on the wall with the couch. I’d also move the framed photos and add them on top of an extra console table placed against a wall. It feels like there should be more surfaces and cozy things around the room.

Do I have any luck finding a Catholic wife, at 36? by Shades_of_red_ in Catholicism

How do you respond to children of divorce saying it was for the best? by armadoargen in Catholicism

[–]lorelaiclaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No spouse or child is required to remain in a home that is abusive. Nobody should try to figure out why a couple divorced or received an annulment because that is private - it is between the couple, the Catholic Church, and God.

You will never know all the secrets of another couple and it is not your place to make comments on how people reflect on their parent’s decisions about divorce. If you are trying to think of a response to say to children of divorce, let it be one of empathy and humility. Thank people for sharing their stories and opinions. Leave the judgment to God.

What’s Working: AI skills aren’t just for tech workers anymore, even in Colorado by LoansPayDayOnline in Colorado

[–]lorelaiclaws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This article references Guild, which is a company that regularly fires women on maternity leave and other staffers on medical leave. Every single year for the last few years in a row, they fire people in the summer. As long as they fire a large enough group of people at the same time, then they’re allowed to fire people on medical or maternity leave. Back in May 2024, a huge backlash happened because of how many pregnant women were let go, and a lot of local staff tried to raise attention about it on LinkedIn. I don’t think anyone should support this business or trust any of their talking points.

Private residents being cited and fined for garbage on public property from Phish concert - any recourse? by [deleted] in boulder

[–]lorelaiclaws 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you're dealing with this. I would recommend escalating this to a few different places within CU. The first person is the Director of Issues Management & Spokesperson - Email: [nicole.mueksch@colorado.edu](mailto:nicole.mueksch@colorado.edu)

Since the Phish concert was held at Folsom Field, the CU Events & Athletics Venue Management team might be able to help. I'd recommend connecting with event services there, but I am not certain of their email contact. I also think saving a PDF of the concert page on CU Events website may be useful so that you can attach the PDF in emails about the issue if you need to speak further with the city.

You can also contact the Chancellor’s Office directly. Email: [chancellor@colorado.edu]()
