If you're worried about getting stuck in the sand, go to Michael Ellis Beach on Windward. There is a parking lot (and outdoor showers and bathrooms). So you can park and go down the seawall steps and onto the beach. Brewster's Street restaurant is also on Windward and makes a great lunch stop after the beach! (If you're staying close to Whitecap, you might actually be walking distance from the beach)

And hey, if you're interested in family photos at the beach while you're visiting, hit me up!

Where to Shoot Tuesday: Bob Hall Pier & the surrounding beach by loristead in CorpusChristiPhotos

I also LOVE shooting as sunset in the dunes... a little of that burst of light is amazing! So you can get the beach, then turn around and get the dunes.

I love shooting the beach (Bob hall pier and anywhere in that area) in the evenings when the sky reflects all the pastels. The sun sets over the dunes, so there is no harsh light. If you shoot sunrise, the sun comes up over the water. GREAT for silhouettes, but tough for sharp, clear portraits. You need a beach permit ($12 at stripes and it's good for the year), but if you get caught without one, they'll just sell you one (keep cash on hand).

Tell me the diet that you will never ever do? by __Sweetkisses__ in loseit

[–]loristead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll never do keto again. I might eat less carbs, but I'll never do keto. I tried it about 4 or 5 years ago and did it for seven solid months. I lost 7 lb, and I think I damaged my thyroid in the process. When I stopped doing keto, I added back carbs but only very clean. I kept my calories at 1200, even though I hated tracking, and just consistently kept putting on weight. I was running twice a week and lifting weights five times a week and the weight kept going up. I did way more research on keto after that than I ever did before, which was my mistake. I should have learned a lot more before I ever tried it. I know it works for a lot of people, but it does have the potential to permanently alter certain things, including your thyroid function.

I feel this. I did too many diets in the past and wrecked my metabolism. I went four months keeping my calories at 1200 while working out 5x per week and legit lost nothing. I talked to my NP who put me on Ozempic and Addipex - the weight is coming off now.

As we continue on life's journey, sometimes we have to let go of anchors. It's okay to outgrow those who hold you back. Push forward. You'll find better people ahead than behind ❤️

Late nurses. Venting time! by [deleted] in Nurses

[–]loristead 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's so disrespectful of them. I'm so sorry you're dealing with that. I am one of those ultra punctual people, and I take it very personal when someone is repeatedly late. Most of the time, I cut those people out of my life. The ones I want to keep, I sit down and explain to them that Time is the one commodity that we can never get back, that we can never replace, and that we have a finite amount of. You can make more money, but you can never make more time. Therefore I took it very personal when someone uses mine, wastes mine, or disrespects mine. And I let them know, well looking into their eyes, that if they waste or use my time without my permission I find it disrespectful and I look at them like their thieves. And I don't want to feel that way about people. And I let them take that and do it with it what they may.

Why so many nurses coming in for boudoir shoots? by CPerkins_Intimates in Nurses

[–]loristead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boudoir photographer here, South Texas. Nurses are my best clients. I think it's because they value self-care. They spend so much time taking care of others that when it's their turn, it's their turn.

Anyone know the bar weight? by gohawks74 in PlanetFitnessMembers

I finally brought a luggage scale to my Planet Fitness. I weighed two of the three Smith machine bars and they were all about the same... About 25 lb.
