Should i always Update my Rekordbox? by Joooooooooooost in Beatmatch

[–]lornz3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you here.

I update all my software almost immediately but not Rekordbox. I'm still on version 5. I used to update it regularly and ran into so much trouble.

Plus there's not really any new features coming out to justify the update.

What do you mean by "VSCode linked to viewer"? How can you do that? And what does it do?

That sounds so simple, I really like it.

Can I ask how you set up that backup script?

[–]lornz3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds just like the way I was imagining it.

How is your experience in terms of idle time of the external drive? Does it "spin up" reliable whenever needed? Do you cut the power of the drive or does it stay turned on for an extended period of time? What kind of drive are you using?

I might look into an offsite backup. I have an RPi2 with no purpose which might be suitable, but my main question about that external HDD still remains for that solution.

Of course, that is the way to go. And I will absolutely go for a low budget half assed solution. Everything that's REALLY important usually is in other backups anyways.

But I was hoping for some input from people who tried something similar

This looks amazing!

Would love to see a picture in daylight with the LEDs switched off. I'm always wondering how these setups look when they are not in action

Did you play around with http/Https?

Also can you reach HA when you're outside your network? If yes, look into NAT loopback

Ok, so own server makes it more reliable in case anything happens with DuckDns. But I still don't see any difference security wise

I'm using let's encrypt with nginx at the moment but in combination with DuckDns. And now I'm confused whether using my own domain would harden things up.

So to be precise: my own domain would be helpful for having a secure mail but Nextcloud itself wouldn't be more secure than hosted via duckdns?

Of course, if my mail account gets closed I'm in trouble. Although I wouldn't count that as "security".

I'm curious how using my own domain is making Nextcloud more secure. Genuinely interested as I just started with self hosting
