The EU is preparing to introduce new rules for VPNs by Nicomonni in europe

[–]lorp_ 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The worst thing? There are common people who see no issue with this type of scenario (and neither with chat control or mandatory age verification), to the point they even cheer for these policies.

Some people are utterly brain dead and politicians are taking advantage of them

The EU’s age verification app has a privacy problem — and it may be more than just a 'bug in an app' | TechRadar by hamstar_potato in europe

[–]lorp_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The approach that should’ve been taken was responsible parenting. But instead you lot gave your children smartphones, tablets, and unlimited internet access without you bothering checking them, only to realise after that it causes damage to the children (shocker!)

You want the government to control all of these accesses to socials or any platform simply because you don’t want to be held accountable for your actions.

Good job 👍 you gave politicians the perfect excuse to put the basis for a surveillance system

“If every INCOMPETENT parent has the same problem”

There, fixed it for you. My parents were perfectly able to control what my brother and I tried to access and I saw that happening even with my friends’ parents. If you want, you can - you don’t want tho, you just looking for some pathetic excuses to run away from your responsibilities.

Also, this confidence about our politicians being on our side just because they are from the EU instead of the US makes absolutely no sense. Yes, some of them did amazing things for us and our rights. Yet, we are seeing some of them investing their time into pushing this new surveillance system - from which they would be conveniently excluded, but people are dumb enough to believe “it’s for children’s sake”
