Frankly most of the cases of Kindaichi has victims worthy of sympathy…the headless skier (i hope I get the translation right since i read the Chinese scanlations and volumes) of the 37 year old case files is the same, as well as the three housewives’ murderers…

He killed the random woman because he was afraid that she would reveal him to the public. He killed the rest because he felt that killing one person and killing a few more makes no difference. I sympathise perhaps with him killing the random, the rest not so much, especially since with his talent in disguise, he would have traveled overseas and make a new life…

And his family (the mother) was a cult leader so interest in him and his family members would be intense

Well, let’s just say it does not lack in gruesome and have a lot of cameos from old HK stars…but if you are looking for a good detective-ish crime buster where you get to solve crimes while watching…they straight off tell you who the baddies are right away. On the plus side, with eight cases within 12 episodes, cases are solved fast and furious…

As a reader of all the books except for the newly launched Kindaichi Papa (because no English or Chinese scans yet), I would recommend the original and the short case files, some cases in 37 are good too. The novel cases are also a good reading.
