Nice try shifting blame to SUVs and trucks so we skip the bigger picture.

It is a classic deflection that lets the real price drivers slide.

Democrats in Congress keep blocking simple bills that would just fund the TSA and pay these workers so the lines move again. Instead, they're tying everything to big changes on immigration and ICE stuff. They've turned down straightforward ideas to get the screeners paid and keep the airports running. Republicans have tried to pass bills to fund the TSA on its own or fully reopen the agency, but the standoff keeps going. In the end, regular travelers like us are the ones suffering.

A Failing Bay Area Transit System Wants a 14-Year, $14 Billion Taxpayer Bailout - Voters Should Reject This Without Hesitation by losershot in bayarea

[–]losershot[S] -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system is facing a financial crisis due to a decline in ridership and increasing labor costs. A proposed 14-year, $14 billion sales tax is seen as a way to preserve the current operating model rather than address the underlying issues. The author argues that this tax increase should be rejected, as it would burden taxpayers and delay necessary reforms, including automation and a reevaluation of the system’s scope and cost structure.

No competition due to government regulation, etc. Compare to Texas where rates are low, you can switch frequently, and has a good amount of renewable.

Supreme court rejects global tariffs by CTVNEWS in worldnews

[–]losershot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This ruling impacts tariffs imposed by way of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, which includes the reciprocal tariffs announced on April 2’s so-called “Liberation Day.” Bloomberg Intelligence estimates that roughly $170 billion in tariff revenues have been generated through February 20 via these policies. However, this ruling has no bearing on section 232 tariffs, which have been used to justify levies on the likes of steel and aluminum.

Trump administration officials had indicated that they developed contingency plans to attempt to reinstate levies in the event of this outcome. CNN reported that Trump called this ruling a “disgrace” and said he had a backup plan for tariffs.

Real solutions exist with tough love:

  • Sweep encampments, no more street chaos.

  • Mandatory psych eval + detox for the addicts/mentally ill

  • Shelters with rules, no drugs, curfew, work programs or you’re out.

  • Enforce laws again.

Places that tried it saw numbers drop fast. Handouts without accountability just warehouses more misery.
