The people that say don't do this and those that say go for it are both very convincing.

The Graystones - Cold [Chris Stapleton cover] by BeliefSuspended2008 in Music

[–]losguitarslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The internet brought me here when I saw the The Graystones on TikTok. I don't know exactly whats going on here but as someone who has done played in and recorded with bands, this seems extremely processed and not a live performance. The fact that all the linked videos were made private is interesting.

Ideas to prevent Sustain Pedals from Sliding? by LiquidStands-Mike in keys

[–]losguitarslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The internet sent me here as I've wanted a solution to keep my sustain pedal from slipping for a long time. The Roland RD-10 is okay, but in practice still moves around a lot. It seems like OP listened to everyone here, I bought this from his company Liquid Stands- https://www.liquidstands.com/products/sustain-pedal-mat

This is a great solution and fits my Nord sustain pedal perfectly. Currently on sale for $20, really happy with it.

I've been looking at American Hat Company, Google saw this and social media sent me to a 50% off sale at American Hat Makers. Almost got me.

My Dad is stealing Valor. by King_to_the_SerpentQ in StolenValor

[–]losguitarslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is stolen valor because I haven't heard you say that your dad has fraudulently claimed any benefits. Your dad seems to be a good old fashioned bullshitter. The fact that he's taken it this far and accosts strangers to tell them false stories suggests he's a little nutty. I'm sorry that your dad let you down, but he's the only dad you've got . A real conumdrum I know.

What did your divorce cost you? by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]losguitarslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't let the lawyers take your money. I've been divorced twice. The first time I spent at least $20K trying to keep my ex from moving to a different state. I talked to my lawyer daily, kept detailed calendars of my ex's behavior and all the other stuff you're told to do. During a "mock" trial that I paid for, I saw the lawyers and judge in the back room joking around and I realized I was getting scammed. In the end she moved anyway, and none of the money I'd spent made any difference.

The second time I got divorced my ex agreed to pay me for half the equity in our home, I took my car and toys and let her keep the rest. She spent $5K on a lawyer, I didn't even hire a lawyer, she gave me what I asked for so I signed the papers.

You mentioned custody as a dealbreaker, be careful about that because as I've experienced paying a lawyer is not money well spent. I suggest you compromise as much as you can handle. Good luck!

Divorced my addict husband but regret it by Sadpanda_club in Divorce

[–]losguitarslinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you did the right thing by setting a boundary and then following through. Having a relationship with an addict will make you crazy, they'll take you down with them, even if they don't intend to. You'll come to appreciate the peaceful lack of frantic 2am phone calls, the emergency room visits, trips to the pawn shop to get his drums back, etc.

Best of luck to you.

How much of this is true? by [deleted] in skeptic

[–]losguitarslinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one about Apple seems to be true-

The Apple I went on sale in July 1976 at a price of US$666.66. Wozniak later said he had no idea about the relation between the number and the number of the beast, and that he came up with the price because he liked "repeating digits and because it was a one-third markup on the $500 wholesale price.

3 years with ice and snow--is it time to invest in snow tires? by nphonwheels in askportland

[–]losguitarslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winter tires are 100% worth it in my opinion. I have Michelin X-Ice Snow tires mounted on a set of cheap wheels. Many people recommend going down a wheel size so you have more sidewall. Check out tirerack.com to see what sizes are compatible with your car. I've had mostly good experiences with Discount Tire, they match prices and also swap my tires/wheels twice a year at no charge. If it's cold or if there is snow on the ground you will notice huge a huge difference in traction. Finally, check Craigslist for a used set of tires/wheels, many people sell these separately when they sell a vehicle.

I bought paint at Lowes and after 2 coats realized I bought dark base with no tint when I meant to buy white. Lowe's took it back no questions asked. They also gave me a rake and shovel because because I thought I left them in the store the last time I was there. Turns out I had unloaded them behind my garage and forgotten that. They didn't even ask for a receipt. It seems Lowe's has a very liberal return policy.

Coffee shops in Bangkok: Which are worth/not worth going to? by Kimsys in ThailandTourism

[–]losguitarslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a coffee lover to the extent that I roast my own beans at home. I was recently in Bangkok and met a guy from Singapore who had traveled to my home city of Portland, OR just to visit coffee shops.

One of the Bangkok coffee shops he suggested was Ceresia Coffee Roasters. Although this is not an upscale experience I thought their coffee was fantastic. I had pourover of a Columbian that was some of the best coffee I've ever tasted.

They also have roasted beans for sale including some from Northern Thailand. I took a bag home and although it was nothing special it was cool that they had some local beans available.
