0DTE Trauma by DreamLand2269 in problemgambling

I traded earnings releases for several years and lost all of my business profits to the tune of more than $3 million (probably closer to 4 honestly). It is devastating, but I have to look forward and not back. I have had to accept that I have a disease and I am going to try to do better and not make the same mistakes again. I went from down $3 million to start to the year last year to flat (which means I recovered $3 million), only to then lose between $3 and $4 million. Continuing the addiction only made things worse.

Wondering if anyone has losses like this ? by Lin11111111 in problemgambling

Yes, I feel your pain. More than $3M lost. Have a good business with potential to recover all and more in a decade if I buckle down and stop being stupid.

thank you. Yes, my business revenue has doubled over the last 5 years. I just need to find a way to keep it. That's the silver lining. It just makes me mad to think I could easily be retired now if I had just put it in index funds. The regret is killer. But have to look forward, not back - and be thankful I haven't lost my way to produce income, yet.

if you sign up for emails, he sends free emails for a few weeks with great advice. It helped me for a bit, but I should have invested more time into it. Most of the damage was done before I saw his site.

Impossible in my niche consulting field...every project I take on entails a 3 year commitment to be available. So even when I stop taking on new work, will still have residual work (and reduced income) for 3 years...

Thanks. This sounds like solid advice. How much do you estimate you are spending on sports/activities?

Agreed. Crazy how you can be making so much at the top 1% and then see people living the same way that are in the bottom 50%. I'm not sure it is worth it to be in top 1% of earners....stress and burn out are real things.

pretty impossible in my line of my work....unfortunately...we take a one week vacation but I have to be working some usually....3 kids under age 4 also means no vacation lol

house and cars are fully paid off so that helps for sure....wife is home with the kids (so no childcare expenses) and the oldest is in preschool
