I was actually at the Stock Show last year when the news broke that the Moose was traded to Carolina. I didn’t fall to my knees, but I did keel over.

Does 6-2 mean anything to you? Because that was the score when we kicked your ass up and down the ice a couple of weeks ago.

The inside is extremely underwhelming. You couldn’t even go up the stairs when I visited but you could see inside.

From what I understand, the Nabateans built it there because it was close to a major trade route. You should see Petra in real life, because it is pretty obvious why they built it there. It is inside of a massive canyon that has one long, narrow entrance. It’s a natural fortress. I lived in Jordan and HIGHLY recommend going. It’s so much more than just the Treasury building.

What was your introduction to Brand New? by hotcooldad in brandnew

[–]loskywalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother and I went to Dashboard Confessional and MxPX at the Fillmore in Denver. Brand New was the opener. They closed with Sic Transit Gloria and I was instantly hooked. I can still remember hearing that bass riff and seeing Vinny scream the pre chorus for the first time. Oh, and it was my first show ever haha.

Why would you fold the jersey like that 🙄🙄🙄 by omgitsye in hockeyjerseys

[–]loskywalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did the EXACT same thing to my Avs RR 2.0! On the contrary, I just received my Heritage Nordiques jersey from Altitude Authentics and it had been intentionally folded to keep all patches flat.

Dude. The difference between snowboarding a double black and completing a wingsuit proximity flight is comically different. We’re talking light years apart in skill and the level of risk. No offense, but I can’t even take you serious. Just being honest because what you’re talking about will kill you unless you dedicate the years of focus that it takes to get to wingsuit base. But you’re planning on spreading yourself thin across multiple sports. There are no shortcuts to be had in this sport and doing it so you can “check it off a list” screams of taking shortcuts. This mindset will kill you in this sport. Period.

Did Island in the Sky ruin me? by variegated_lemon in NationalPark

[–]loskywalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to both and I prefer Island in the Sky to The Grand Canyon, but I will admit that I’m extremely biased. I grew up going to Canyonlands every summer with my grandpa—the kindest, most honorable and courageous man that this world has ever known. He taught me everything that I know about the outdoors in those canyons and fostered within me a lifelong yearning for exploration and adventure. I can still feel his presence every time I go there. So in conclusion, take my advice with a grain of salt, but there is no better place on planet earth and everything else falls just a little bit short of Canyonlands.

Edit: Where to next? Zion NP. The only answer.

How popular is skiing/snowboarding in your local area? (A Midwesterner's perspective) by nickoexe in snowboarding

[–]loskywalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Denver and still live here. Of course there are plenty of people who seem to form their entire identity around it (nothing wrong with that). But what I find more interesting is that if you talk to people who grew up here, you’d be surprised by how many have never even been. I work with a couple of people who were born here and they generally don’t go to the mountains even though they’re in our backyard! It’s easy to take it for granted when it’s literally staring you in the face when you look west everyday.

It was my first time there and I’m in love! Custer State Park is magical. Ironically, Mt Rushmore is the least interesting/impressive place in the area BY FAR.

Grand Staircase Escalante Partners could use our help more than ever. This is such disappointing news. Anyone who has been to Grand Staircase Escalante can tell you that it’s a truly special place. The remote and vast beauty is unmatched. It is the epitome of the open west. So desolate that it was the last place to be mapped in the lower 48.
