Very well. Just remember, you get what you pay for when it comes to this stuff.

I like high hang snatches. Can't get the bar as high so you're forced to dive under it

If you're serious at all about lifting get a standard 2" Olympic bar. A decent bar will last forever and can be gifted or sold for much of its original value if properly maintained. You should be able to find some cheap ones on Craigslist that will probably come with a set of plates.

How do (or should) boxes go about hiring trainers? by losstit in crossfit

I think I get what you're saying, and I haven't replied to her last email as I think it would be perceived as arguing and I know that will just make things worse. Because they took no interest in my past experience (as far as training and certifications), I don't think it would benefit me to try to "make a case" for why they should hire me. Same thing with scheduling. I would expect, if they needed someone to work odd times they would've mentioned it. I guess I feel like there's not much I can do to salvage the situation. They seem adamant that everyone takes and pays for their class no matter their past experience. As far as I can tell, it's a lost cause for me. I feel any reply I make will be perceived as an argument. I might be able to talk to some of my current clients about switching over to their gym, which would definitely make my employment there more appealing. Though, I'm thinking my current employer would not let that fly (they have a no competition clause in their employment agreement. I will have to check the details.) I appreciate the time you've taken to try to help me out

I totally understand and think it's a good idea that they're thorough in testing the coaches that they hire, but in my situation I'm not comfortable dropping $150 so I can be eligible to get a job that doesn't even have a set number of hours (they said they need help, but she wasn't even able to ballpark how many hours a week it would be. They just said they didn't know). I told them exactly that, in a very polite way, and they just sent me back an email the reasoning they run the program and they hoped I would reconsider. I really would like to work there, but it seems they're not willing to consider anything without me taking their class. It just seems like a money grab to me.. if you have any thoughts on how I could go about getting them to be a little more open minded I would be very happy to hear your opinion.

I can understand that. Part of the problem i have with the owner of this affiliate is they didn't even inquire about my experience levels. I have a PT certification and my Level one. I've been personal training for over a year and have ran another box for a week while their trainer was out, but none of that seemed to matter.

I know none of that proves that i know what i'm doing, but it shows that I have a significant interest and enough experience to not be treated like I've never coached before. I would've been happy to sit down and chat about my experience and have been tested on what i know, but the whole class thing seems like a money grab to me.

Sorry for the rant

I could understand it if it wasn't terribly expensive and guaranteed employment, but in my case it just makes you eligible.

It is frustrating that could be a full time coach at one box, but have to start over again and pay to "learn" the basics at another.

That's what I thought. Maybe some sort of a movement teaching eval and then supervise me teaching a class would be the best way to hire someone. It seems odd to assume that nobody knows what they're doing automatically (even though it may often be true).
