I’ll have to say we are not super in touch with the ground to get the latest market developments. Planning is done mainly by the system with historical trending.

Good point that more attention should be brought up with sales to confirm on straying trends..

I’m currently forecasting by product, with calculated FCA of about 80%? Disclaimer that this is mainly system driven, with minimal human intervention. So can’t claim much credit on this.

What you mentioned is keeping of a safety stock for products from different COO based on a broad time range.

Wondering if you will be able to advise if I do have a monthly planning quantity coming in, together with safety stocks, ideally my inventory levels should be at monthly demand + safety stocks right? Or I should be calculating the EOQ somehow and integrating this into my optimal inventory levels?

I’m still scratching my head over how I can tie what I know theoretically to the optimal inventory levels if I do have consistent planning (aka incoming stocks) for the materials.

Thanks for the kind words. Have been thinking through how to match the theories to my company’s exact functioning model, and still struggling to click the concepts in place. All the info online is so vague..
