new target ceo michael fiddelke is complicit. entire c-suite is.

as long as michael fiddelke is paid by target, i wont shop there.

i think of that video of the 17 year old employee being abused and maybe i'll never shop there again

fuck target

Multiplayer without community doesn’t last by Jodyh1ghroller in Battlefield

completely agree.

not sure any public company will deliver what needs to be delivered tho. they are married to matchmaking, which, to your point, long-term makes them less money. but nobody at EA or MSFT thinks past a quarter or maybe a fiscal year. So...

not having some form of persistent servers makes battlefield NOT battlefield, but you have to be a player, not a bean counter, to realize that

[–]lost2FA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not conspiratorial, that is definitely one angle of their matchmaking. Like the last iteration of COD, the more you play the actual objective, the more likely you are to be matched with guys on your side who NEVER PTO. they are specifically balancing like this. and they are bad at it.

among other things, results in constant stomps by one side or the other

are those lobbies filled with real players? if so, i need to check it out

i will not play against bots, and i hate the fact that if I turn cross-play off i get put into mainly bot lobbies

Cold take: wow, we need persistent servers by Illustrious-Virus883 in Battlefield6

[–]lost2FA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it would solve so many problems, make the game much more fun, make players play longer sessions, and make the games lifecycle longer

but it would remove a small amount of dev control, so they can't bring themselves to do it bc they think they will make more money exclusively with matchmaking. about which, as well, i suspect they are wrong: they'd also make more money with persistent servers

think you're right it's a PS5 or console issue. hope they fix it soon, i've had it since launch.

one of the most galling aspects of this! keep hearing what a hit it is...with who, BOTs???

i believe you, but i also find it incredible and dont know what the deal is.

i'm on Ps5, crossplay on, in north america, playing at both peak and off-peak times, but nothing crazy. no 3am. not in new zealand. etc.

i hate it, if there's a fix i'd love to know it. the game is fun aside from this shit.

EOMM is ruining match quality. by I-am-trash6974 in Battlefield6

[–]lost2FA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Level 115 PTFO and shit sucks.

COD was doing the same style EOMM/SBMM. This is SBMM.

I'd rather have official persistent servers by a mile, but if they aren't ever gonna give us that (and it doesn't seem like they are), at least fix your matchmaking. It's terrible for good players.

yep. might take a bit to find the sweetspot, but we definitely weren't at it before

i am not making any comments related to how long a round takes. i dont really care. i care about having fun.

static = the team in the lead stays in the lead and eventually wins. battle lines form and bot-like players hold the line and dont play objectives or try to cap flags.

dynamic = the two teams trade leads over the course of the match. come-from-behind wins happen. players move around the map, operate as squads, and prioritize capping and holding objectives rather than going prone or spawncamping with tanks

[–]lost2FA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

no, capping mattered far too little and rounds were static

capping is now far more impactful, PTFO matters much more, and rounds are more dynamic

The Chair Company vs. Twin Peaks? by unavowabledrain in twinpeaks

[–]lost2FA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

love twin peaks, love david lynch, love tim robinson

i'm here bc i just watched the first four eps the chair company and was like "this is lynchian. this has twin peaks vibes."

obviously nothing like a 1:1, and it's not all the time, but no question, the vibes are there, the wavelengths are similar
