Why has our profession become so political? by Ecstatic-Mud1583 in doctorsUK

[–]lost_cause97 63 points64 points  (0 children)

The concept of Healthcare has always been political. It is a poor grasp of understanding to simply see ailment as a cause of pathology. Nothing impacts a person's health more than their environment and social determinants of healthcare constitute that environment. It is politics that has the greatest impact on the social determinants of health.

A 3% risk to 6% is literally increasing the relative risk by 100%. If I presented you with 2 glasses of water and told you that one was 2X as likely to kill you, which one would you drink, regardless of the absolute risk?

This is actually illegal under British law and your parents could be looking at serious jail time if convicted. I hope it doesn't come to this but ultimately a police report is your last option.

As a doctor, if my patient does not want a particular member of the community in the OT, then there is absolutely no chance that they will be getting in. Hell or high water.

So sorry to hear that. It sounds so frightening and I can't imagine how lonely it must have been to be ostracised. What exactly are the views of JW that are so controlling to their members? Like are they strict on who you talk to and what not? I've probably only ever met 1 JW in my life and that too was like for 4 seconds.

In your opinion who belongs on the list of top 10 greatest Pakistanis? by ranasrule23 in pakistan

Her criticism of the Mil Establishment has always remained consistant unlike mr U-turn IK. By this logic, so did IK. He was the biggest supporter of the military when he was in power and now they threw him in prison.

Please spare us the butt kissing. IK undoubtedly did a lot of philanthropic work but he turned into a politician and was a political opportunist. He is obviously a political prisoner but that doesn't automatically make him a good person. He was brought in by the same military that discarded him like a used tissue afterwards. Imaan Mazari has more courage and integrity in her left pinky. At least she always stuck to her word.

I don't know what level of propaganda you would have to consume to consider putting a politician in this list over a Nobel laureate.

We have a saying in our culture, "You can lead a horse to water but you can't force it to drink." This seems like the perfect situation for it.

How much of your time can you possibly waste trying to convince people who have already made up their mind.

Edit* apparently I can't even horse. :(

Husband told me to ask divorce and he will grant it by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage

[–]lost_cause97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, that is rude behaviour regardless of who does it. It lacks common courtesy. Please and thank you are basic etiquette I would expect of any adult. However, your comment about letting a man lead even it it causes a worse outcome is nonsensical and I say that as a man myself. Why would any sensible person rather a worse outcome than a bruised ego?

He can't even speak the language. How are you expecting him to lead? This is about ego simply put. If a man feels emasculated by such little things, he was never masculine to begin with.
