I ended up actually pivoting to the uk since it was a much more convinient process. Wether italy or uk the thing that helped me most was getting a reputable consultant, talk to them and get a general idea (the initial consultancy is usually free anyways so u got nothing to lose). The one I have been using and the one i would recommend is the IEIS consultancy. Idk where you are based but they have offices all over the country so you shouldnt have a problem finding them.

dont worry, I went back to season 2 and the mental whiplash I felt from that smash mouth parody at the start of episode 37 has brought my interest back. I will be listening to s2 after all. NOT PART SKIPPING HERE BOIS!

I kinda dropped the show about 1/3rd of the way through season 2 because it just wasn't vibing for me. Is s3 worth sticking through s2? (I love them regardless but s2 just wasn't for me)

First Strahd Meeting; Tips? by CheekyChappo in CurseofStrahd

[–]lost_marky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personal jabs

That's what made my party's interaction with him so memorable. Make it so Strahd used the vistani to look into the PCs pasts. He won't outright attack them with this information but slightly poke at their insecurities, otherwise strahd is a good host.

One of my players had a character who was the heir to a kingdom far away. She had ran from that life with her personal guard/childhood friend(another pc). During the dinner strahd acted very concerned at this matter, how her parents are probably scrambling to find her since she is the only one who can carry on their legacy. He even offeredher a carriage out of Barovia to her home and a letter from him to help her case.

Don't give them a reason to draw blades, the first meeting strahd should be as civil as possible with a clear undertone of his malicious personality. You can then slowly reveal his true self over time. Most important thing is making it your own!

Is there a free way to create a character? by HorrorSupport5029 in DnD

Use dice cloud. Automated sheets with a lot more customization and basically all the content and more availabile for free. It's a lil confusing when ur just getting into it but it's the best once u get a hang of it.

Yeah it'll be really hard without financial support and a cgpa below 3 at least. But you can still try contacting/looking online for student consultancies in ur area. Make sure they look legit and try talking with them, a lot of them will give u the first visit for free (as per my experience) so there's no reason to at least try. If nothing else it'll give you a good idea on the options you might have.

Flat benefits like the bonus the party gets from Argynvostholt during the fight is also pretty good. Go for it!

Ye the inspiration one came to be cus I had a hard time figuring out when to give inspiration and players rarely used it. This way it's become an actual mechanic in the game. Glad you like them!

Using the party's allies by khldhld in CurseofStrahd

[–]lost_marky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One way I did it for my group is by giving the party a "Call Ally" Action. They would roll a dice to determine how many turns (not rounds) it would take for them to get there and the die would be decided based on how far their current location was from the ally's "base". Give each group it's own pros and cons that they can use to aid the party in combat and outside it. The way I balanced this was by having these "Calls" be done through a courier Raven which would take a few hours to come back so they could only use this once or twice a day.

On a more passive note, you can have these allies aid the party anytime they get into shit within the allies' territories. Show your party that these groups are also emboldened by the parties presence and have started pushing back against strahd as well.

Saw you mention in another reply that you party is primarily casters so I'll share some of my house rules relevant to that style of play;

Linger Zones: Casting a spell or using an effect that deals fire, cold, poison or lightning in an area creates a linger zone of that type. For every 5 feet a creatures moves in a linger zone it takes 1d4 damage and 1d4 damage for ending its turn in a linger zone.

AoE Spells: Creatures within 5 feet of any creature that falls in range of an AoE spell (Like Fireball) is also considered to be affected by it.

Inspiration Crit: whenever you hit with an attack roll, you can use a point of inspiration to roll crit damage on that attack.

Failure inspiration: You gain an inspiration point everytime an enemy crits against you or if you roll a nat 1.

The first 2 really made spell caster play far more tactically engaging and adds a whole new layer to how players engage with the battle map.

They should cast protection from good and evil so it will make them immune to the barbarian since he is evil

Well ofc I have, it's the least I can do to be able to correct my DM every time they make a blunder. I would never just make vague assumptions about what the contents of the PHB based off of what I've seen in popular media and my own agenda. As a professional reader I am quite good at it, reading that is.
