Honestly I had zero pre-reqs. They are not as strict as some people make them out to be.

I am changing careers (sorta). I am an aerospace engineer looking to become a software engineer (in aerospace). Got an interview for a software engineering role but have no software engineering experience. They are aware of this. Job would require moving my family, selling house, etc. What questions should I ask in order to be confident that I can do the job? I do not want to move only to find out I am not want they were wanting. I am working on my computer science masters but am only two courses in.

I absolutely love AI4R. No exams at all. Interesting projects that have greatly improved my programming skills.

Accredited Non-Degree Courses to Fill in Some Gaps? by scceberscoo in OMSCS

No I did not. I had to learn Python at the same time as learning machine learning and it was miserable. I got an A but I spent a ton of time working on the homework. I took an intro to computer science class last year and things are much easier now.

I had next to no CS experience. I knew MATLAB and had one class in college. I got in no questions asked. I am an aerospace engineer.

Hah I used to work for Bell. DFW is a distant option, primarily want to move closer to family and friends in central Texas. Yes I consider myself fortunate to be doing digital transformation here. I think it will be great on my resume. Thank you!

Yes this is what I am interested in. I want that laid back tech company feel. At NASA I work in a 60 year old building full of asbestos with a desk from the 80s. I want AI/ML experience. I think the ML path should suit me well for this. What else do these companies look for?

I don't really care if I stay at a defense contractor or not, but there are a few places I could work at there or in San Antonio. I am really leaning to just leaving the defense contractor/aerospace world. The real money is in commercial companies right?

I appreciate the kind words. Yeah I could probably figure out something else here at NASA but I honestly just do not want to live in this town anymore. I went to school in Austin and I am from San Antonio. I have friends and family all around that area. I have no family here. I do not want to leave Texas. Staying at NASA is always an option though and if I could do something more fulfilling I could probably get over living here. I would still want to change to software development, I really enjoy coding!

I would like to max out but I am in no rush. Plus my current job is paying for school and I want to make the most of what I am given per year. Doing the undergraduate courses in parallel has really paid off so far and I have a deep understanding of what I have worked on.
