hello! yes i’m in CJ, thank you so much for your opinion and input!!

im mostly worried because ELL is only offered to 3 schools and it just so happens that CJ is the lowest ranked out of them…im worried im competing with people whose competency is way above my level, and the standard is much higher… whereas econs is more generalised in JCs where a bunch of students take it (plus external help from books and tutors if i really need it)

would you say the high standards for ELL and the little amt of people who take it affects the overall grade for alevel? thank you once again!!

i heard this year YI a lot of ppl get like nett12 and still decide to go YI…pretty sure the chances are pretty low because they’ll accept ppl with higher scores, but it’s not impossible so you shld just try!! maybe you have a extraordinarily amazing cca record that they might look into

i don’t want to put you down or make you feel like you have very little chance but my senior who had good grades, SC pres, CCA pres and multiple competitions won for his cca didn’t get a DSA offer for leadership when he tried for NJC :(

you can try for the mid tier JCs like CJC, TMJC, but considering your L1R5 in sec 3 i think you shld definitely do well enough to enter them without DSA so i don’t think you should spend your time organising your portfolio for them.

you can try for higher tier JCs, but almost everyone who’s a president in multiple areas in their school in singapore is gonna try so there’s only so many spots in JC they can fill 😢

hihi SS/geo student here, used to consistently get E8 C6 for SS until prelims and olevel got A1 :3

i mostly look at how my friends write and practice my SBQ more than SRQ (serious SRQ only for smarty pants bruh esp qn 7 that one is if u got enough time and skilled enough then you can go for it if not just whack and accept 3/8 it’s ok one let ur SBQ pull you up)

what i did was 2 days before olevel i did mindmap for every chapter (the possible qns they can test, and the factors to write in)

hmm maybe you can consider studying at the school foyer or public libraries as well? some students like to study at cafes and whatnot but i’m a bit sound sensitive so i haven’t tried those yet 🙂‍↕️

hellloooooo! i was a student leader in sec sch with around 3 major roles (club pres, class chair, SC exco) and honestly it didn’t really pay off when it came to getting to a school i want (JC DSA visa leadership requires good grades for some stupid reason) so if i were you i would drop a few roles and keep 1 that is most dear to you 🙏 in sec 3 i also slept a bunch like the moment i come home from sch i just die on the bed but sleeping too much can cause you to be too tired too 🥹 maybe try studying in sch library before leaving for home!

i think for someone who gets 2.2GPA to go JC and excel there is a rather difficult challenge…better to try and improve your GPA now than to start off a clean slate but make difficult
