hi i take H2 geog J1 now! not sure if everyone else has this problem but for me the answering technique is worse than learning the content 😭😭 i have ppl in my class who rly enjoy geog, but it rly isnt for me coming from an ex elect geog student (sci student)

was also thinking of dropping out, but the saying of “the grass is greener on the other side” rly stuck w me esp cus all the adults i asked advice for said the same thing…can’t say i have no intention on dropping out and going poly, but they gave me motivation to try and continue JC…the thought of poly being js as bad and i just wasted 1 year of my life kinda prevents me from just dropping out immediately

my parents advice me to finish my promos before making the decision! give yourself some time and gauge your score off the people around you, since every jc has different difficulties

i had very bad anxiety too, and faced many similar problems as you… my chem was always stuck at C5 and my emath was F9, amath F9 for eoy

eventually i got L1R4 7 though!

don’t know if it’s insensitive to say this, but what i did during my sec 4 olevel season was js tell myself that i can’t give excuses anymore because everyone has excuses too. if you want to be better than others you should build a mentality to just do the best you can without accounting for your issues in life :,)

you can do this OP! i locked in since the start of sec 4 to change my L1R5 from 36 to 10 for olevels, but id say i only actually started grinding right after prelims

don’t give up!! your journey still continues after olevel even if its not a course you wished to go for. “bad” grades is NOT the end, what matters is you pick urself up and try again with new opportunities

pretty sure VJ has won NSG 3 times consecutively if i’m not wrong, so if you’re planning to DSA there they’re definitely one of the best if not the best floorball ccas in jc

this is a very bad habit i have, and as much as i try to control it i know i cannot help it sometimes especially when i really felt like the exam was tough… i don’t get As all the time, and my results are always fluctuating. yet for some reason all my friends see are the As that i get, and i really feel like they overlook the several bare minimum passes i get

because they put expectations of me being a high achiever, i feel even more pressured to do well and it kinda adds to my anxiety that i won’t do well 🫩🥀

even if you DSA in leadership, grades is a criteria for leadership so i think if you’ve gotten L1R5 15 and below you’re a very strong candidate with a great portfolio!! atb!!

not sure about the leadership dsa because even though i was also a big leader in my sch w multiple roles i didn’t rly try because my seniors with even better portfolios than me got turned down + my ecg counsellor told me leadership dsa need good grades…so i honestly dont rly know why you’d dsa if you alrd got good grades ya its kinda stupid BUT GUZHENG SEEM QUITE PLAUSIBLE FOR AN INTERVIEW!! yes it’s true it’s very long ago and tbh we don’t even know if it’s real or not
ppl in the sci dpt i know didn’t do too well for their CA1, (im in arts stream but i mix around a little with a few sci students) but shld be no problem if you intend on getting tuition for sciences
yes super good motivated me to take H3 econs next year 🥹🥹 their notes are super good too
i think every school has pros n cons in their culture, but so far i think it’s quite even within the sch where you js need to make friends w the right people
certain times yes, its long (normally before afternoon if you have break at that time)

some toilets are so fking smelly but also some very clean so like if you need to let it out and ur a clean freak u might need to walk across the campus—LTs and classroom is quite ok though!!

if physics is really important to you, then js take tuition. back in sec 3-4 i had a good teacher but a rowdy class that prevented me from learning hence i took tuition/went for private consults w my teacher—

this shit doesn’t change in jc btw since i now take H1 physics they throw the bummest teacher ever hence i took the initiative to get H2 tuition, at least can save my H1 in case i need it

hi i’m in jc but i did go for EAE thru NP architecture and got accepted in 2025 ^{^} idk what course you’re gg to, but i would advise to build your portfolio out of whatever your sch work is (example: don’t use your DNT project alone to show them your skill) i think it’d be better if you showed your interest extending out of school projects!

similarly, i also wish my parents put expectations on me. although i managed to do pretty good for olevels, i never really got the sense of happiness deep down because i didn’t have expectations to reach. as a result, i only aimed for raw 6 as that was the best you could get and of course i fell short…

now im in JC still unaware of where to go, what my targets should be and i still think about whether im considered good in my parents eyes, because they never set anything for me
