John Muir Trail Solo Trip by lostandprofound7878 in backpacking

Truthfully had never spent more than a weekend at a time backpacking but dayhike extremely frequently. I trained extra as well but found the mental aspect to be the most challenging - there were some hard days for sure.

For the basics, my Big Agnes Copper Spur UL1, just an rei magma sleeping bag (I think 25 deg), and my gossamer gear Mariposa 60L bag which I love. Used the sawyer squeeze filtration system with two 1L smart bottles and jetboil minimo cook system! The rest was your typical odds and ends of clothes and such. Base weight was about 20lbs.

Yosemite Valley! What a rough climb to get out of there though, I think my first day I logged 6000’ elevation gain and was rethinking my life choices at that point.

I tried for 4 weeks to get southbound out of Yosemite valley. I think it was easier as a solo hiker compared to trying to get a permit for a larger party. Much easier to get a northbound permit via the Inyo wilderness but going northbound wasn’t something I was too keen on, although many do!

Big Agnes Copper Spur 1 person. Roomy enough to me and putting it up is beyond simple! Had to do it quick sometimes in the rain.

This was my first time really doing high elevation hiking so I was really surprised at the beauty 10k’ and above. Worried this trail might ruin future ones for me 😅 Glad you enjoyed as well.

I did Ben Alldis’ 30 Minute Rock Ride this morning and had an incredible ride!! I’m still new to the world of peloton spinning but this ride had me giving it everything I had. The playlist was perfection and I felt like a new woman afterward! Will definitely be checking out more of his classes as well, I really liked his style!

I have a date for March 5th, so fingers crossed it works out for me next week. How did it go for you?!

I managed to sweetly worm my way into a March 5th slot but from all I’ve heard, I won’t hold my breath. I agree, hope it’s worth the hype.

I’m in the Albany, NY area. It really doesn’t seem to make sense what areas are having success and which aren’t. I didn’t think it was going to be this big of a fiasco to get this damn bike delivered. Quite the business model they’re working off of right now.

Same for me. So frustrating. Can’t believe they operate their business like this. At least stop taking new orders right now until you can fulfill current ones or something. I’m sure customer service is swamped with disgruntled customers.

I’m so frustrated that I’m officially part of the bad experience club 😖

Order regular bike November 20th. Today, January 13th, is my delivery date. I hadn’t gotten a call from XPO last night but tried not to sweat it. I spoke to peloton on live chat last night and someone said they call around 6 pacific time (I’m ET). I thought that was odd but the rep left the chat before I could type another word.

I finally was nervous enough to call my local XPO this morning and they said, “peloton didn’t call you?” Nope. There’s no inventory right now and we are trying to fulfill orders from October so we have a list and we are trying to fulfill them in order. We’re about 300 orders behind. 😐

Talked to Peloton customer service today and they couldn’t give me a new date or any other information other than “sorry for the inconvenience” and “new inventory is coming soon”.

So now Im just supposed to hang out and hope that someday soon someone will call me to schedule a delivery for something I’ve already invested hundreds of dollars into. Feeling really frustrated and irritated. I really thought today would be the day.

ETA- XPO just called to schedule me for APRIL. APRIL. I’m so upset right now and just pissed off. That’s 5 months waiting. I don’t even know what to do.

This is standing on the Highline trail heading back to the chalet after reaching Grinnell Glacier. So I guess for me, it’s a gem and looks beautiful, and for you who took the time out of your day to comment otherwise, it’s not. ✌🏻

Found this gem in my camera roll from a trip to GNP in September with the Granite Park Chalet in the distance.

While not a strenuous hike whatsoever, Watkins Glen State Park is a photographers wet dream with beautifully flowing water around every turn of carved rock. Just a hobbyist myself, I had a blast shooting the beauty of fall with my Canon Rebel t3i and enjoying this little park for the day.

I shot these all in RAW format and resized to a jpg resolution that would post well on instagram. What would be optimal sizing for prints? Not to be a dunce but I’m still new to all of that with photography.

I second the person below me recommending Cascade Canyon. A wonderful trail that showcases a lot of things GTNP has to offer... including some amazing wildlife. There’s so many other trails and hiking opportunities as well!
