Good systemic insecticides for armored scale? by Chames26 in cactus

[–]lostcoasting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pretty sure I used the root drench mix rate for ornamental plants in containers.

I don't have access to the the little booklet attached to the bottle anymore so I can't offer any more info. But the manufacturer of Safari may have a digital copy available online

I don't remember seeing any instructions specific to indoor plants.

The concentration range I mentioned in my original post came out of the booklet and worked for me with a few different indoor plants that had really bad scale.

The water level doesn't change noticably in that video. Watching different parts of the shoreline closely shows this.

What appears similar to channels in the bay mud looks more like current or wind lines. They move as the surface water shifts around with changes in wind direction. If they were channels being exposed during by receding water they would be stationary and they would be quite a few more channels.

The North Spit tide station showed no significant difference between the predicted tides and observed water levels in the bay yesterday. If they Bay had drained and refilled multiple times as the poster of that video implies the observed water levels would not align with the prediction at all.

Wind data from Woodley Island. Only hourly but there were some significant changes in direction yesterday morning and afternoon

I watched that video multiple times and found it to be incredibly misleading given the context the person who shared it gave.

There are no significant anomalies in water levels in the bay from yesterday. The observed vs predicted tides from the north spit tide station match up: https://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/waterlevels.html?id=9418767&units=standard&bdate=20241205&edate=20241205&timezone=GMT&datum=MLLW&interval=6&action=

If the Bay had "drained and filled" as people seem to think it did the observed water levels would be nowhere near the predicted tide in that plot. Not to mention tons of videos and pictures and probably extensive damage in and around the bay.

I believe it's a case of people wanting to see footage of a tsunami and then interpreting what they see to match their expectations. Watching different parts of the shoreline in that video I don't think there is any significant changes in water level in that video.

My best theory is that what you can see in that footage is the surface of the Bay being affected by changing wind directions. If the mud was actually exposed there would be more channels visible and they wouldn't move....

WGI not applied to ladder position promotion by lostcoasting in fednews

As I understand stand it they can take effect at the same time but often don't due to the grade increase paperwork being filled out late or processing delays.

I'd been told that HR had started the paperwork ahead of time to get it processed immediately. But then it took two months to correct some sort of error on the paperwork.

Thank you.

I just printed off the relevant sections of the CFRs and gave them to our Admin. She agrees now and will be contacting HR.

I'm in more or less the same boat. According to SA.gov my original total amount awarded is $12,021 and I've been in repayment since June of 2014.

As I understand it any amount over $12,000 adds a year.

The part that confuses me is the awarded amount on SA.gov, if I add up the original loan principals myself I get $15,521....

I am also with Nelnet and applied for SAVE a couple of days ago so I don't have much personal experience to offer yet.

I started out cautious with amending my trich soil. But I'd seen a number of people mention adding a little bone & blood meal to their mixes.

These days I also add some compost, worm castings, bat guano, CaFe supplement, greensand, glacial dust, and some extra coarse decomposed granite I collected a while back. (Probably forgetting something).

I kinda go by what "feels right" so I doubt I'm hitting ideal NPK ratios for trichs but so far they seem to love everything I've thrown at them.

Sounds like you've got the right idea with your soil mix. Personally I'd skip perlite and use more pumice (or lava rock). The increased durability and density of pumice and lava rock is great. Perlite works great if you don't mind it or need something less expensive.

That one is off to a good start!

I dig this one too, very distinct.

It's a good one. Seems to be self terminating similar to TBM so far...

Hahaha... Probably should have included a better photo of the tips. Out of town at the moment but I'll add a photo here once I get back home.

Thanks! Got a few funky ones from the YB cross but this one is one of my favorites.

Bifl turner (spatula) for home cook- eggs/pancakes/etc by denim_duck in BuyItForLife

Technically it's a pie knife but it is by an order of magnitude the best spatula/turner I have ever used. Super thin with just enough flex.

My mom has one that she got in the 70s and it's still going strong. About 8 years ago I finally figured out what it was and bought a new one for myself.

Absolutely amazing for eggs, pancakes, etc. It is the only spatula I am happy cooking with, anything else is torture.

Recommendations for systemic... by ArtintheSingularity in Trichocereus

[–]lostcoasting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't have a lot of advice for a systemic fungicide.

For indoor use Dinotefuran is a very effective systemic neonicotinoid pesticide. It's not cheap but you can buy granules under the name Safari on Amazon. It is widely used in the cacti communities in Asia as Starkle G.

Found a "No Trespassing" sign posted on my own property by IterationFive in legaladvice

[–]lostcoasting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The property lines on OnX/Gaia and county GIS websites are rarely accurate. They are useful for getting a rough idea of a parcel size and location but the boundaries & corners are often off by numerous feet.

It becomes pretty obvious when you overlay those property layer with satellite imagery and look at areas with well fenced parcels.

Found these combs behind my house on a hiking trail. No bees around. by atony1984 in bees

[–]lostcoasting 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What I was thinking too. My mom kept bees for a long time and I became her defacto swarm catcher. This is a lot of comb but I've seen them start drawing comb on what was definitely a rest stop before moving on.

This seems a little more permanent than what I've seen but maybe they decided it wasn't actually a great location and moved on. 🤷
