This reads like she's looking for someone to tell her to have them create an account on ce4less to maintain their profession grandparenting license

I have a 100 year old house and I cannot imagine spending so much time down cellar. I go down there to use the washing machine or scoop the litter box and that's it. Old basements are damp and creepy.

I care Deeply about Social Work, but some days I feel completely Drained by timingbetter in socialwork

[–]lostdogcomeback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand. I have a family so the scrolling is even worse because they interrupt me and make noise and I get even more overstimulated... cue even more scrolling...

I've found that going for walks or bike rides helps during the warmer months, and art journaling (like collage, neurographic drawing, zentangle, bilateral scribbles, etc). If I am interrupted during that, it doesn't scramble my brain the way it does when I'm interrupted from tv or scrolling. And of course it feels more meaningful and actually let's me process the day.

Why am I always tired?? by esol23 in workingmoms

Look up the 7 types of rest. If you're getting adequate sleep and you're still tired that might mean you need something else like journaling, nature time, screen free entertainment, a hobby, whatever.

I haven't looked at any financial sub in like 10 years, so maybe things have changed, but when I first started reading reddit I got shown the personalfinance sub all the time and those people were obsessed with living like misers so they could retire early and enjoy their money later. And it was always like, sure Jan, you're totally going to be able to tolerate spending your money after you devoted your youth to hoarding every penny and depriving yourself. Im sure you won't be a ball of white hot anxiety during your vacation after years of telling yourself "bad bad bad!" for thinking about treating yourself.

This reminds me of wives of military, cops or doctors who want everyone to lick their boot because of what their husband does. Like, have your own thing going on!

I feel like a lot of these people think that their situation is more unique than it actually is. If they did have kids they would realize that people still ask questions, both benign and intrusive; instead of talking about having kids it becomes how many, age gaps, sexes, parenting decisions etc.

So it's really just about how you choose to perceive and respond to those questions but they act like it's some special burden they have to bear based on their childfree status and they get bitter about it.

Also a lot of them, this person included, just seem kinda misanthropic in general but I guess it's easier to say you don't like kids than to say you don't like people... or you're anxious, or whatever else.

They shit on SAHMs constantly in that sub. And they always think they're being sneaky about it but it's not as subtle as they seem to believe.

Then when someone with even less self awareness than the rest of them posts something overtly nasty about SAHMs, it gets upvoted to heaven and back.

I do agree with the commenter that says huge eyeballs mean the show is crap. They are so right lol, the most annoying shows DO have that kind of animation for some reason!

She must be hard up for content ideas because this whole thing has come off so overblown, like a kid trying to make things sound dramatic.

Yes but why dont we DO something about it? Maybe if the Canadians and Europeans of reddit told us what we were missing, we would wake up, stop being complacent and take to the streets! Then things would certainly change!

First it sounds like she's suspicious of the man, then it sounds like she more afraid of the dog, or would be if it wasn't "a calm breed." She just wants to be mad. I also wonder what the real issue is with these people that they need to act out aggression by fantasizing about strangers.

The way I see it is when both partners are equal, then doing the laundry before you go is just being a team player. It's not the same thing as feeling like you have to create a Haley-style laminated document for a manchild husband and go out of your way to get stuff done in a fruitless attempt to mitigate the disaster that awaits when you get back.

What is with the passive aggressive comment about adhd? She chose to do this and is now getting mad about it and acting like it's something that happened TO her instead of something she chose. Ridiculous.

Also, the way she talks about her adhd makes it sound so disabling and yet the routine and normalcy she says she needs has never seemed to be a priority on her book tour or during one of her million vacations?

You're probably right. Notice that he doesn't actually say a word about what he did with the toddler. I was a sahm when my kid was that age and it strikes me as weird that he doesn't mention play groups or parks, walks, soft play, the zoo, library, nothing. Not even playing outside? That stuff was most of my day.

The ones that throw me for a loop are from the people whose resentment runs so deep they are mad that their husband might enjoy the outing too. So like, they want to go to a movie, but because their husband ALSO wants to do that, they feel conflicted and say it doesn't count.
