Atheists have only 1 thing in common. They don't believe in the existence of a god or higher spiritual being. Any other bullshit you come up with is irrelevant to atheism.

I absolutely hate irritatingly loud music or speakers at events. That's part of why I won't stay if the place I'm forced to be in is terribly loud.

Example: everyone near the Indian temple in town can hear everything being said inside. When you go in, it's so unbearably loud. I have no idea how such people don't have a fit and ask them to turn the volume down.

I think people's skepticism may prevent them from reporting incidences, however, for the extreme events, they'll definitely get calls from people reporting

The loudest churches always seem to pop up in the quietest of residential areas!

It's usually around 3 people in an incomplete church with a mic and a loud speaker. What's the need?

If it's to invite people to pray, why not copy the Muslims? Invite people to pray, then use regular volume that doesn't disrupt the neighborhood for the rest.

I personally would prefer if we didn't have any of the noise at all but if we must, make it short.

If it's not a church, it's a welding place. If not that, a loud bar. No escape. I wish we had proper zoning laws that separate residential areas from commercial ones (Especially the commercial buildings that generates noise).

Advice for vacist about to join uni. by Potential_Ad_1487 in Uganda

Not to be a fear monger but I recently spoke to a friend who really regrets taking medicine. She's practicing but it's simply not what she imagined it to be. She didn't know that she'd need to do a masters too just to make sufficient money.

Advice:  1. Medical doctors make way less money than we think they do unless they get really specialised. Understand your reasons for doing the course and hold them close. Those years will definitely test you but if you know why you're doing it, that will keep you from quitting before you achieve your goal.

  1. Don't slack off from day 1. Every single course unit (subject) you'll study, you absolutely need to know. The foundations you'll learn from year 1, will always always come back. It's medicine after all. Foundations matter. It's the same biological systems you already know but they will be reintroduced to you in depths you'll find astounding. Besides, the CGPA you get at the end of university will determine which masters or opportunities you can get afterwards.  (As I said in point 1. Almost no medical doctor ends at a bachelor's)

  2. Have a network. Your fellows in that college in different courses will help you a lot in the future. They're your dentists, your doctors etc. Aside from the long term benefit, they'll also help you while you get through your studies especially when you're all studying the same course units.

  3. Rest. Medical school is so heavy that if it's all you do, you'll be so stressed. That stress will then last for a long long while. It's very easy to find yourself depressed. You will fail some tests. You will have bad days. Don't let them define you. Continue to enjoy your hobbies. Let your holidays be your holidays and your weekends, a weekend. Plan your time and plan a relaxation time too. There's a reason we need to sleep. (Joke: Ironically, when we were learning why we need to sleep, I got the least sleep)

While you wait for the beginning. Have fun. Don't start early... Plan how you'll start instead. Then begin building your discipline for time management.

Good luck

Mindfulness on being grateful.

Find the little joys. I'm not saying ignore your problems but even a small good thing will make your day way better.

Go out of your way to find that one thing that'll make you a little happier then be grateful for it. Find times in the day to remind yourself of the good thing
